I stand behind Leo's message 100%,

but you have to admit it is kind of funny that the original gaslighter organization which uses positive reinforcement to brainwash people into worshiping a deity of their own creation is trying to stop tech companies from doing the exact same thing, lol.

Yeah but at least that organization has not ever instigated a war, right?

[–] pingu@piefed.europe.pub 4 points 2 months ago (4 children)

Is an instititute not allowed to develop into something better over time?

[–] freeman@sh.itjust.works 7 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Certainly they have not at all stopped misinforming people. There are also still elements that promote hatred.

[–] anomnom@sh.itjust.works 3 points 2 months ago (1 children)

Have they ever truly gotten rid of the pedo problem either? Like all of the ones in the system?

it was built on a weak foundation of lies for a people who are scared to die. But really who isn't... I remember hearing catholics say "those christians over there are not real christians" ...Then I proceeded to think neither of you two are christians but a lost people displaced by war, exploited by capitalist and no real memory of your past. Bondage is all they know. Without a scientific mind you just make shit up and in the hiearchy the poor pay more.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 months ago

"who are scared to die"

if catholics are afraid to die, then all of you are defecating your pantaloons this instant

Opus by Gareth Gore

ps I think book reviews are stupid but a review of a machine is not. Yes please tell me how to think... Don't challenge my stupid ideas. I love my hug box....

[–] spongebue@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

Certainly not one that has been around for centuries and has seen many different world views over the years!

[–] halfwaythere@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

Wait, so it's ok to brainwash as long as you're "good"?

[–] honesthenery@thelemmy.club 5 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

We in the USA have a issue with secular and non secular idol worship... The pope is a CEO... Kinda like his own little corpo kingdom... kinda like these billionaire welfare queen pdfile anarcho capitalist libertarian tech ceos..and it seems like both parties can't keep their hands off the kids. Like musky boy is trying to create or already created. These catholic clergy are just grifters and fraudsters. It is sad to watch the elderly spiral into madness and these vampires love taking advantage of the weak while posing as "the good guy".... the world is a inversion of what people actually believe. It is hard to keep your head on straight with such a heavy knowledge base. I looked into the abyss and it spit in my eye.

[–] Karl@literature.cafe 4 points 2 months ago (1 children)

As much as I hate the organization, I want to forgive the people who run it. I want to believe they do it cuz they're brainwashed too.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 2 months ago

Some cardinals and popes were better than others, thats for sure.

[–] PabloSexcrowbar@piefed.social 4 points 2 months ago

I've heard there are AI worshipping cults now. I wonder if that's got anything to do with it.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

me when I know absolutely nothing about the Church and I watched a single netflix documentary

[–] conartistpanda@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (1 children)

Pretty sure that documentary would be the more consistent and factually based religious piece of media out there.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

when you just look at your machine like this 👁️👄👁️ because the reply is complete excreta

[–] conartistpanda@lemmy.world 1 points 2 months ago

Fire with fire

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 2 months ago (2 children)

I was raised Catholic, actually. Went to bible camp every summer, sang in the choir. The book is fantasy fiction and the preacher's livelihood depends on convincing people that all good things come from god and all bad things come from humanity.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

and Jesus Christ wasnt created by the Church.....

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus? No, but he was used by them. Christ? Yes, complete fabrication.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ literally said he is the Son of Man and assigned Pope Peter as the "rock" of his church

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 7 hours ago (1 children)

Jesus Christ

Again, there is no such thing as a christ, magic isn't real.

literally said he is the Son of Man

Isn't everyone?

and assigned Pope Peter as the "rock" of his church

And what does that mean? One of these four interpretations? https://www.gotquestions.org/upon-this-rock.html

Or something else entirely? Let's ask Jesus. Oh right... he died.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 7 hours ago (1 children)
  1. There is, stop strawmanning it to "magic"

  2. The Son of Man as in the Messiah. Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him: “You have said it. Yet truly I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

  3. Jesus told him to "feed my sheep".

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

There is, stop strawmanning it to "magic"

Can god make something out of nothing? That is magic. Can god reverse death? That is magic.

What's up with the blood sacrifices and rituals? Totally-not-magic?

The Son of Man as in the Messiah. Matthew 26:64 Jesus said to him: “You have said it. Yet truly I say to you, hereafter you shall see the Son of man sitting at the right hand of the power of God, and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

Messiah meaning savior? To save us from the punishments god created for us?

Jesus told him to "feed my sheep".

Jesus was kind of a dick like that, yeah. If we believe the gospels.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 5 hours ago (1 children)
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Again:

To save us from the punishments god created for us?

You keep cherry-picking parts you think you can answer (though all you have is apologetics, fallacies) and ignoring the parts that prove your death cult is baseless and harmful.

Fucking scum, fuck you for choosing death.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 4 hours ago (1 children)
[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 4 hours ago

Again:

To save us from the punishments god created for us?

If he is all-powerful, he chose to create sin.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -4 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Please read the Bible further.

May I have some of the verses you read that made you think that?

and no it does not, not at all

Most religious orders (the way that most people become priests or brothers) do not have you earn your own money, you live in formation houses or active communities with priests and brothers

[–] SnoopSqueak@lemmy.today 1 points 9 hours ago

That's the point of the garden of Eden story. God made everything and everyone, but we broke his impossible rules and now he punishes us forever, to the point that infants are born with sin.

It's a death cult.

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 2 months ago (2 children)

Clearly I've read the bible more, and in more versions of, than you.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 months ago

again, verses?

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -2 points 2 months ago (1 children)

translations depend on literalness and the way its said

for example

the difference between

"I ate a bunch of fruit today"

and

"A bunch of fruit was consumed by me today"

[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 1 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago) (2 children)

Yeah but then you say a bunch of racist authoritarian shit and try to shrug it off as sarcasm when the crowd turns against you. You're not allowed to decide you were joking after the fact.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -1 points 2 months ago (1 children)
[–] FiniteBanjo@feddit.online 2 points 2 months ago

I said if you stand against marking things with /s then you're promoting the ability say horrible shit without consequences. No matter how outlandish, how stupid, how absurd you think a statement is: that is somebody's real opinion.
