I would love to live somewhere without tip culture, but I don't.

You're part of the culture. Just don't tip.

I live in a relatively low income area. The people who are turning to these delivery gigs to make ends meet are not the ones that I have an issue with.

In fact, if my tip was enough so that they could maybe stop work early that night, giving them time to spend with their loved ones, then I'd consider it a win.

Not gonna be a dick to those people. They didn't create this system.

But you are all perpetuating it. It sucks but it is a vicious cycle and you're in it.

"You criticize society, yet you participate in it. Curious! I am smart!"

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Uhm, no? Participating in society does not require you to follow every "norm". If everyone did that, nothing would ever change. Don't be thick.

Yeah that's the point. That's why I put it in quotes.

I was referencing this meme: https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/we-should-improve-society-somewhat

[–] potustheplant@feddit.nl 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That's a terribly misguided meme.

So you disagree with this

The comic has been popularly used as a retort to people who imply one can't make complaints about capitalism or other aspects of social life while participating in those systems.

You think that only people who have removed themselves from society are allowed to criticize it?
