I will never understand how this show was popular, but I tend to feel that way about most pop culture so maybe it's just me.
It was a retelling of Sherlock Holmes, that’s the biggest reason.
And we like medical drama: ER, The Pitt, Gray's Anatomy... it was a good mix.
first let me say your opinion is valid, and it's ok to not like stuff or disagree with the majority. for me, i just really liked the character of house, someone who would do anything even if it violates the law or ethics in order to chase a high, whether it be the vicodin or the solution to the puzzle. there were some parts i didn't enjoy but i just always found him an enticing character to watch and see what boundary he would violate next.
