I wonder if that was a normal dynamic with her parents? Could she have normalized it from there? Although it sounds like there's a lot more going on here than just that.
No, it's not that complex. She was just insecure and validation-seeking. Most people are. It's normal behavior. I'm the abnormal one, in that I don't get jealous and don't seek-attention/validation from other people, because I don't find it rewarding at all.
Anyway, her anger issues boiled over eventually and she physically attacked me one night, after a party where I didn't 'show her off' enough or something, and I never spoke to her again. I'm sure she found someone else who was into her weird exhibitionism stuff or maybe she just got on social media to get her attention/jealousy fix. This was 15 years ago, before that stuff existed.
