I think most people have caught on to the fact that large corporations generally put out utter shit quality games and to stay away from them.

Gamepass has proven there's a cake in the oven, and big tech wants all the slices.

Lol. I always chuckle when people recommend gamepass when you can download and keep most of the games cheaper with a VPN.

I'm not recommending it. I'm just saying there's a business opportunity for the companies able to properly serve the type of user interested in that kind of service. Those users exist, as gamepass has proven with their gazillion subscribers.

Amazon’s the only one I think could make a dent if they got serious about breaking into the gaming market.

Netflix can’t even make decent shows anymore, Apple would be too expensive or mobile focused, and Google can’t commit to anything.

Amazon already got serious several years ago, invested tons of money in their dev studios, bought huge licences, recruited talented people and still mostly failed to this day. I remember reading an article about Amazon's very hierarchical corporate structure that killed any attempt at the creativity needed to make a successful game but I can't seem to find it

I don't believe for a second that any of these big tech companies have a chance of making a significant dent in the videogame market, it's just too far from their own expertise

Yeah, would make sense that Amazon’s “disposable” approach to employees would fuck them over with something like this.

Netflix can just throw money to attract game devs. They use this strategy for their mobile games and the games are actually pretty good, way better than the usual microtransaction-laden mobile games.

Serious AA titles, no. But apps? I can see that happen quite easily.

Google has proven to be outstanding in showing off limited corporate attention span and fad chasing. Not sure why the Sony boss has anything to fear from Google.

Apart from the sound bite title this article tells us zilch.

Nero sang, as he transformed Rome to ash.

They don't realize the only true Romans in the industry are indie.

Google canned their gaming product though...

Ah poor Sony.
