/c/TenFoward: Your home-away-from-home for all things Star Trek!

Re-route power to the shields, emit a tachyon pulse through the deflector, and post all the nonsense you want. Within reason of course.

~ 1. No bigotry. This is a Star Trek community. Remember that diversity and coexistence are Star Trek values. Any post/comments that are racist, anti-LGBT, or generally "othering" of a group will result in removal/ban.

~ 2. Keep it civil. Disagreements will happen both on lore and preferences. That's okay! Just don't let it make you forget that the person you are talking to is also a person.

~ 3. Use spoiler tags. This applies to any episodes that have dropped within 3 months prior of your posting. After that it's free game.

~ 4. Keep it Trek related. This one is kind of a gimme but keep as on topic as possible.

~ 5. Keep posts to a limit. We all love Star Trek stuff but 3-4 posts in an hour is plenty enough.

~ 6. Try to not repost. Mistakes happen, we get it! But try to not repost anything from within the past 1-2 months.

~ 7. No General AI Art. Posts of simple AI art do not 'inspire jamaharon'

~ 8. No Political Upheaval. Political commentary is allowed, but please keep discussions civil. Read here for our community's expectations.

Fun will now commence.

@jawa21@startrek.website for realizing that the line used to be "want to be added to the sidebar?" and capitalized on it. Congratulations and welcome to the sidebar. Stamets is both ashamed and proud.

Mama Janeway puts in her two cents:

We'll just assume this takes place before things happen with B'Elanna in season 7.

Also, congratulations to @The_Picard_Maneuver@startrek.website on this very special father's day just a couple of days after welcoming his new little Trekkie into the world!

Before I screw up again can I ask .... did you just have a new child?

If yes .... then congratulations!

If no ... please disregard this message.

Phew .... finally got something right on this thread ... happy for you, all my best to you and your family.

I was looking for a Star Trek Fathers Day meme ... and found this

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Fair.

Sisko's dad is kind of a dick to his grandson though.

[–] spittingimage@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago

He also lied to Sisko about who his biological mother was.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Ummm ... my comment ended up in the wrong thread. Sorry about that. This was supposed to go to the main post not a response to you.

This is what happens when you post without thinking.

In any case, it gives me the opportunity to wish you and your family congratulations!

You've assimilated another being into your little collective. I am sure that the new beings biological and technological distinctiveness will benefit you all greatly.

Now your comment went to the wrong person, because I was congratulating TPM, who had the kid.

I am a father, but my wife went through that trauma 14 years ago.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago

OK ....... my commenting for today isn't working out the way I'd like it to. I must be drunk, or high, or in an alternate universe.

Whatever it is, my best to you and I'll see if O'Brien can just dump me into a transport buffer for a few decades.

[–] cm0002@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Ohhh is that why there's been no posts from him for days lmao I was starting to get worried lol

[–] The_Picard_Maneuver@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I was wondering how noticeable it would be... I think I've posted just about every day for the past year, so it feels weird to take a short break, but irl is taking priority right now.

I'm sure I'll be back to posting soon, once I can get into my new routine (and some sleep).

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Firstly, congratulations! Second, I'd say you've got your priorities straight. Don't worry, we'll keep an eye on the shop for ya.

Fun fact: Lal was Lizzie McGuire's mom.

[–] ummthatguy@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

I did not know that.

And I learned something today.

It's certainly at the upper end of their "wake him up for treats" range, which can extend back into the 4am area. And they know that if they wake me up, I'll have to get up and go to the bathroom, at which point they also know that while I'm in the bathroom, they can get excited enough to start to wake up my wife, ensuring that I have to go get them treats.

Stupid dogs.

My dad was an asshole. But I miss him.

Trek was the only thing we ever bonded over. 🥹 Wish he could have seen Season 3 of Picard, if only to see Data/Lore story to finally play out/end.

[–] ininewcrow@lemmy.ca 4 points 5 months ago

My father was good to me .... but I have plenty of friends that had terrible fathers and a few people that didn't even know their fathers. Be happy that you had any kind of connection to him.

Also, Happy Cake Day!
