Privacy has become a very important issue in modern society, with companies and governments constantly abusing their power, more and more people are waking up to the importance of digital privacy.

In this community everyone is welcome to post links and discuss topics related to privacy.

Some Rules

Posting a link to a website containing tracking isn't great, if contents of the website are behind a paywall maybe copy them into the post
Don't promote proprietary software
Try to keep things on topic
If you have a question, please try searching for previous discussions, maybe it has already been answered
Reposts are fine, but should have at least a couple of weeks in between so that the post can reach a new audience

Privacy@Lemmy.ml : Any Google frontends that look like Google, or at least show info cards on right side? (lemmy.world)

I tried Startpage and Searx but when I search things celebrity info or health conditions, the kind of searches where Google and other 1st party search engines would show info cards on the right, they show them on the left above all the search results rather than on the right side like Google search does. Its bad design because I have to scroll down to see the results when I wouldn't have to otherwise, and I'm used to the Google search layout, it probably takes some getting used to for other people as well. Its a waste of screen real estate on wide screens, it looks like the UI was made for mobile only.

Almost everything is like that nowadays. Idk if I can help because I don't fully understand what you meant but I think DDG might have what you're looking for.

I used to find them useful too, but nowadays I find them too unpredictable to be useful. The buttons move around, the UI hides or displays different things, and sometimes they only appear after the page has already loaded so I misclick.

At some point, A/B testing itself becomes the problem. Maybe they need an A/B test to see if they should be doing A/B tests all the time.
