A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

Russia, the country that make everyone boycott business with its own people

Honestly, I'm surprised there's not some sweeping conspiracy theory that the Ukrainian invasion, Trump, and all of the related bullshit in been between are a military-industrial complex plot to have another cold war to drive profits to everyone involved.

It looks like some kind of crazy conspiracy sometimes

[–] Donjuanme@lemmy.world 6 points 1 month ago

Add to that the Democrats don't need to discuss their policy goals (barely) at all because the Republicans have 0 desire to discuss the nuance of policy.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist, but this is the most ignorant election cycle ever, everyone on one side is voting on their feefees, and the other side is (rightly) scared shitless by this.

I don't think anyone is pulling the strings, it's just a fact of the world we live in.

There probably is such a conspiracy theory, or many based on the same theme. Occam's razor applies though - it's far simpler to just assume that Putin is a self-aggrandizing dictator who dreams of conquest (what do you get for a girl who already has everything?). After all, if it looks like a selfish asshole, and it swims like a selfish asshole, and it quacks like a selfish asshole, then it probably is.

Of course, there are many groups within the military-industrial complex who are happy to take advantage of his behavior.

Maybe there are too many GOP ties to the MIC for Trump to start pushing that.

Not just the US, my German arms manufacturer shares are also constantly on the rise.

War is so profitable :)

God bless em! I want more brand new weapons of man-made horrors beyond my comprehension being field-tested on the Russian military.

What, like robo-dogs or robo-dogs with bees in their mouths, and when they bark they shoot bees at you?

[–] NegativeInf@lemmy.world 8 points 1 month ago

Military gonna industrial complex.

[–] kerrigan778@lemmy.world 41 points 1 month ago (1 children)

They have to think they're fighting NATO to feel better about how badly they're doing

[–] possiblylinux127@lemmy.zip 18 points 1 month ago

Its kind impressive that Ukraine is alive and fighting. It kind of reminds me of the US revolutionary war were the US received help from the French

I love watching this dipshit roll around in the shit situations he gets himself in.

It's like some 3 stooges shenanigans with this short bald little fuck.

I love this format, it's achievable/reusable with a potato device. Makes me happy.

Get fucked, Pootin! Just take your cyanide capsule already!

[–] M0oP0o@mander.xyz 6 points 1 month ago (2 children)

You are assuming that that capsule works and was not sold and replaced with a wooden replica.

The reality is Putin doesn't want to start a all out world war were he will most certainly lose. Such a war would cause a lot of death and destruction.

[–] Honytawk@lemmy.zip 13 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Every war causes a lot of death and destruction. So that isn't the reason.

[–] CanadaPlus@lemmy.sdf.org 7 points 1 month ago

Such a war would cause a lot of death and destruction to him and people he needs.

Fixed.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 6 points 1 month ago

He has no problem with ordering death and destruction in Syria, Chechyna or Ukraine, those are just the ones we've heard about. He is putting children in punishment camps. There is nothing he won't do and he wants everyone on Earth to know it. :::bidenwibblywobbly::: C'mon, mayn, don't be a dog-faced pony soldier! ::::bidenwibblywobbly:::

Mutually Assured Destruction really does take nukes out-of-play, don't it? Even the threat stretches credulity
