Bonus weird ad with the PS1 being used to open beer bottles:

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 10 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Those beer bottles must be tiny

[–] ebc@lemmy.ca 15 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

I think you're confusing the PS1 in the ad with the PSOne which came out later and had rounded edges.

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 7 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Idk about that myself, but I think going off the picture, the way you open beers on it is the "side of a table" method, and in order to have enough room to do so with the table right there under the PS1, the bottles would have to be about half an inch long rather than about 10 inches (guesstimate of beer bottle length.)

And frankly I'm not sure it'd even work, the edges on the pictured ps1 may be too rounded themselves.

I didn't think I had to explain my quip, but you did it more comprehensively than I ever could.

Besides, I don't even understand the comment you replied to, as swapping in any PlayStation model would change literally none of the stupidity of the image.

Well, no one actually opened any bottles on the PlayStation in the picture, so...

[–] ArcaneSlime@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Sure, but "those beer bottles must be tiny" and in response "I think you're thinking of the psone instead of the pictured ps1" both require a similar suspension of disbelief, and so I continued it.

True, true. Carry on my friend

[–] NoForwardslashS@sopuli.xyz 1 points 3 weeks ago

I had an original PlayStation (pictured) and I don't remember it being a gargantuan monstrosity that was taller than the average beer bottle.

It's how I got the red ring of death.

[–] TachyonTele@lemm.ee 5 points 3 weeks ago

That's why it was so thicc

[–] taiyang@lemmy.world 9 points 3 weeks ago

This is very... upsetting.

[–] edgemaster72@lemmy.world 8 points 3 weeks ago

Meanwhile, the Dreamcast with its controller cord actually coming off the bottom should maybe take a paternity test.

Also, do look out for Tao Feng, but not for the reason the ad says.

[–] Grimm@lemmy.zip 7 points 3 weeks ago

I find these ads equally fascinating and cringe. Edgy male teenager humor to the max, though that was the prime demographic they were marketing to.
