Conrad captures the male experience/perspective - especially friendships, loneliness, and expectations in a way that I feel is unequalled*. Weather Man comes to mind, but Patriot is a perfect delight. It’s like someone made a show just for me.
*Bill Lawrence is a peer, especially in capturing male friendships.
i appreciate this and I agree. There is a lot there about platonic dude friendships. Patriot also in its first ten eps passed the Bechdel Test, which is a low fucking bar. Two different female leads from different angles of the story confronted and befriended each other. There was so much more story to be made from that, but it was worlds better than typical tv writing.
