Referee gets called over to VAR too look at a foul. Gives the foul. UEFA 10 minutes come out and say the decision was offside but refs don't go over to check offsides.

Genuinely making it up to cover their arses cause they employ a bunch of incompetent cunts

[–] Thien_Nguyen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

But its still offside ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????

[–] Foreign_Lab6151@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Tbf they do go over if the offside is ambiguous in terms of whether the player is interfering in play. He would have been asked if he was interfering. Whoever it was should have at least been onside for our own freekick and not give them this ammunition

The fact they changed the decision for the disallowed goal is wild. It went from being a foul to offside. But why would the ref go to the monitor to review an offside???? Absolutely bizarre officiating, even if it was correct they really fucked it

this is my first time seeing a blatantly fixed match

[–] autumnkayy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

scotland i love u

[–] Nordie27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

No I can't, it was really weird that the first replays first seemed to indicate it as a foul. I was as baffled as you

But on the later replays it is a no brainer, clear as day offside. The end decision was correct so what is there to cry about?

[–] Lizard-Minelli@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

What movements? The keeper didn’t even try to go for it?

[–] agaminon22@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'll ask if I ever go to Ibiza.

[–] IsleBeeTheir@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Spain didn't do much to dispel Spanish footballs horrendous reputation there. Ref bought into their bullshit too unfortunately. Spain dominated as they should but it's difficult to accept that farse.

What a career Navas has had. I'll always have a soft spot for him. I was really impressed with Merino tonight. Scotland played well all things considered. They always seem to play Spain tough and are still in a good position.

Serdar Gozobukyuk was obviously happy enough with UEFA and the RFEF’s brown envelopes.

Could be a technical/visual mistake by broadcasters. Regardless it was offside

You'll no find a single cunt in Scotland that unironically says banter.

First of all, it's hilarious to see r/soccer once again getting their knickers in a twist over a perfectly correct refereeing decision. The Scotland player was offside and clearly interfering with Unai Simon. That's why the goal was disallowed not for a foul..

Anyways, Spain were clearly the better side and if Ferran scores his early sitter than it probably would have ended 4-0 or something. Scotland showed great fighting spirit and threw their bodies on the line but no one can deny that they were outplayed for most of the match

Spain has now won 25 home matches in a row in Euro qualifiers. More than any other side in history

[–] CULTURALLY-EXPLICIT@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If it was perfectly correct why did they signal one way then the other then signal it a foul and then retroactively say it was offside?

[–] Fjordhexa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Since when does the referee go to the monitor to make a call on a offside decision? Literally never seen it before.

[–] bregolad@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Interfering, aye right. Anyone who disallows that goal is anti-football and a grade A wanker.

[–] GlasgowGunner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The problem is uefa told us it was for a foul, then changed their mind to offside.

Even if he was offside it’s borderline at best. The keeper made zero effort to get the ball. He wasn’t being hindered at all.

[–] Kanesy99@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

That's why the goal was disallowed not for a foul

It initially got disallowed for a foul, why the fuck is the referee being called over to the monitor for an offside and being shown Hendry near the keeper. They are just trying to cover their arses for absolutely fucking it

Can you explain how both the VAR and the ref indicated it was a foul, despite apparently having a full discussion between them that it was offside?

Nothing like winning 2-0 and getting all my comments downvoted. "Banter", I think you guys call it?

Hopefully this Spain team can do us a turn on Sunday then.

[–] Flexspot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

Here for the Scottish tears.

In no world with VAR you can get away with obstructing the goalie's movement on the goal line, while offside.
