Absolutely ridiculous decision to disallowed the goal from a fair cross into the goal which one, the offside was unfair because he let the ball go all the way and wasn't interfering the shot that came in. Second the goalkeeper looked like a noob by not standing guard against his goal but decided to go in the net with a gentle push which is enough to not let the goal stand. The refs need to think straight next time because they're very soft to Spain.

If Scotland got a point that’s one qualification place gone and one less chance for Norway to qualify.

[–] IsleBeeTheir@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How does that get ruled offside in the end? Refs don't get called to watch the replay for offsides?

[–] vetokele@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s likely some sort of translation issue. They were checking if Hendry was interfering with Simon all along The bloke doing the graphics has interpreted it as checking a foul rather than offside.

What's a fan of the 16th best team in Holland doing in here?

Brexit was the correct choice.

Celebrate your ignorance

[–] jfk9514@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

For me just now, I don’t let it ruin the moment I celebrate regardless. So it’s more waking up the neighbours and then feeling like an idiot. If the goals stand it’s worth it but if not I have some apologies to make 😂

But going forward I’m afraid it will take it away and I’ll actually have to consider even watching at all. It sucks

More Scottish salt here than in a Glaswegian chippy

[–] theskinnysweatyman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I can accept that Hendry may have been offside, but then why did they make the referee go to the screen? Am I wrong? Don't the VAR officials usually make offside decisions themselves? At the very least, shouldn't the referee get the lines applied to the screen so he doesn't have to rely on his naked eye?

It seems like the referee did in fact disallow it for being a foul, and ten minutes later the VAR officials told the commentators he was offside because they realised that was a stupid decision. Just a shitshow all around.

He's to the side of the keeper?

[–] nice_lasagna@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I wanted to make a joke about Scotland like they do with us but I just don't know anything about it aside from Trainspotting 😭

[–] cynical_scotsman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Celebrate your ignorance

[–] Gonchuago@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They like rugby but they got embarrassed in the World Cup, you can joke about that

[–] FootCheeseParmesan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We know everything about you.

Who does that make the moron?

Ugly football by Scotland as usual.

See you in the euros, boys. If you can stop crying, of course.

[–] FootCheeseParmesan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Robbed. Sheer corruption from the referee.

Spanish stans pretending otherwise because they are still bitter about being skelped months ago.

[–] OneBall22Players@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Scottish fans are angry at the ref because he rightfully disallowed the goal but used the wrong handsignals.

In other words Scotlands offside goal should have stood in their eyes. It's fucking stupid.

[–] cynical_scotsman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You know, in football, you get some calls and you lose others.

Funny how the Spanish at national and club level always come out on top at home though.

[–] YouFourKingsHits@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

McTominays goal went for a VAR check... ref gave the goal... then a few seconds later took it back... wtf

[–] lstht123@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

De la Funte playing Gavi into the ground man, 2 days ago he left a training session with discomfort and now plays another full 90

[–] Obamanator91@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm salty as fuck.

No way we'd have lost 2 goals if that outrages joke of a decision wasn't made. Fuming.

[–] Okuyasu_Nijimira@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Y viva España joder

[–] Nordie27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They are straight up lying lol, I get feelings are running high but imagine making shit up just to force a false narrative

[–] kampiaorinis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It is since interference is not an objective decision by VAR but a subjective call from the ref. See Dale Johnson below:

[–] cynical_scotsman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

That's what they said at the time. Then 15 minutes later they said offside.

So, fucking what was it?

They certainly did! It’s all corruption under the Scottish sky

[–] theskinnysweatyman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

yeah that does kind of make sense actually. I didn't know that

[–] fungibletokens@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Even if we agree that he was offside (and I genuinely didn't see if he was or not from the briefest of replays once UEFA made their minds up 5 minutes later that it was offside) - the ref signalled for a foul, so mechanically the goal was wrongly disallowed.

In that it was disallowed in an incorrect way. Which is pretty piss poor officiating.

[–] uchiha_boy009@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Corruption as always.

[–] Ingobernables_Ciaran@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well done, East Portugal. Now run along and secure us our Euros place on Sunday, whilst we fuck about in France

[–] Flexspot@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

At some point you gotta wonder why, if that's legal, nobody ever does it in any other game.

[–] DLSanma@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Aww, come on when he pushes opposing players in the back off the pitch against the stands you lot cheer.

[–] sjdr92@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

he didn't signal for offside when he gave the freekick after going to the screen

[–] Foreign_Lab6151@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Oh he signaled for no goal instead this calls for a replay

[–] Nordie27@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He is standing on top of Simon and has his hand on his chest. There is absolutely no way Simon could have got around him to get the cross

No matter how the decision making process transpired it was the correct decision in the end

[–] FootCheeseParmesan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Rodri literally in tears banging the ground last time we played. Calm down flower.
