Hi r/Watches community! I am fairly new to watch collecting - I have about 10 watches so far. Some of them are "proper" watches: I have 2 Breitling and an Omega. My goal now is to save up enough money to buy a Rolex Submariner. I'll be purchasing second hand, and this is where I run into trouble. I see them listed regularly on different watch forums, but I find it very difficult to navigate the world of Rolex reference numbers. So reddit: If you were me, looking for black dial black bezel date with a budget of ~ $10k, which reference would you get?

Get the most modern one you can afford. (All other things being equal). Since you are still saving, go talk to an AD and get on the list for one at retail. You aren’t in a rush. The modern bracelets are worth it assuming you are going to be wearing it regularly.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'm taking a road trip to the AD tomorrow to look into wait times, deposits, etc.
