I understand that teams in these contracts are paying for future production, not past production. If I’m going to give you like $100M, I’d like to have some past production. Patrick Williams has done some stuff, but like that’s just… if that’s the number, if that ends up being true and the Vassell deal ends up being the comp that his agents go to, that’s a lot of cheese.

Starting about 32 minutes into The Lowe Post.

Williams has been, more or less, the exact same guy for 3 years. All he's proven in the league is that he can be a 10/4/1/1/1 guy.

He's a good shooter, but unless he proves he can be a #1 or #2 option, he's not worth $20+ million a year.

Surely he doesn’t have the audacity to ask for $200 million

If you ask for 15 and they offer 10 and you find each other in the middle then you get 12,5

But if you ask for 20 and they offer 10 then the middle is 15.

I see what you did there Pat Will

What an annoyingly vague way to phrase the number by Lowe lol.

I’m a fan of his and think he has crazy potential, but dude has to get someone in his corner that will humble him make sure he doesn’t fumble whatever bag he is offered.

[–] McJumbos@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Is he going to be the next contract year guy to get overpaid and underperform?

[–] ClutchGamingGuy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

bro is delusional

[–] Jordanwolf98@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Then he needs to average something with a 2 and it isn’t 12 points

I honestly don’t buy this for a second.

Wouldn’t surprise me if his initial target is higher than his expected worth but that’s how practically any negotiation goes. 200m seems like Lowe trying to stir shit up.

Pat isn’t a star my guy, no way Lowe was looking for this story. No doubt Pats team leaked this to him, my guess is because Bulls have already approached him with an offer then is comparing to his production.

I'm a pretty big nba fan, mavs fan, listen to Bill Simmons every week, and on first reading this I have no idea who Patrick Williams is or who he plays for.

I dig the confidence to have a goal like that but you gotta produce.

I too am looking for big numbers in my next contracts.. like, starts with a 2 and isn't $20M. It's $200K

[–] NeonParticles@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I’m hearing Kelvin Benjamin wants big, big numbers for his next weigh-in… like, starts with a 3 and isn’t 30LBs.

[–] bick803@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There’s nothing wrong with “knowing your worth” or believing in yourself. NBA has a history of giving big contracts based on potential. Based on the context of the convo it appears Lowe is referring to anywhere between $21-$29 mil/year, not $200 mil total contract. He’s only 22 and has potential but his main issue like most people in this post have said, is passiveness.

[–] Regex00@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Every player should walk in asking for the max. You won’t get it, but it’s important to anchor higher than lower in negotiations.

[–] bballjunkie@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Prove it, this year! Signed, My Fantasy team.

[–] TayOs1998@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He always expects like $40m in 2K

[–] Wholesale_Grapefruit@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It’s worth noting he’s from Charlotte and that city has a terrible track record.

[–] relivesa@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Why would any team do that? Because of unrealized potential? That he’s had time to realize at this point.

[–] da_reddit_reader@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Basically trying to get paid for his production in the next 4-5 years.

As we have seen, no bad contract is unmovable.

[–] mynameisdamn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Motherfucker averaged #TEN points last year and fuck all else
