Underrated because lack of post season success. Sad

[–] thathooperhooper@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

List proves not all points hold the same weight. But hope Demar moves up the list

Kind of an out of nowhere stat, great story with Diar DeRozen being a shoe in for all-nba defense team this year too

[–] JKaro@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The only player to defend free throws. Truly generational.

[–] similarion@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

The definition of bittersweet

[–] FLIRTY_SAUSAGE@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

So can steph who's just above demar in total points

[–] Rare-Profile6867@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Yea when Demar comes off the bench next year he’s going to win a ring. He’ll be a solid bench player for a contender

[–] 3nnui@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Demar 'empty calories' Derozen.

[–] calculung@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Holy shit you're the 48743564th person to spell his name wrong here. Why is it so hard?

[–] CheapSignal2@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Let's go demare

[–] Wondering_Nova@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Knock on wood but he could also pass Curry depending on how many games he plays.

[–] EndlessDysthymia@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I just need him to go off in the playoffs one year. Just one goddam year.

Always <3 for DeRozan. Lebronto aside, he gave us some great seasons and was a great period after the Bargs era.

[–] noknownothing@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Quite an accomplishment cuz they're all better than him.

A 6x All star with 3 All-NBA selections , might have a 7th and 4th respectively this season depending on how it plays out

DeMar will eventually transition into a 6th man type of role , might win the award and finish with around 25k-26k

That’s HOF case

[–] im_ok_@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

He’s the Mitch Richmond of our era if ends up getting a ring later on

[–] RVAIsTheGreatest@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

It's more than a fringe HOF case. DeMar is making the Hall of Fame. Maybe he's more the ultimate compiler but compiling at the level he has for as long as he has is extremely impressive and something people don't necessarily always take the time to take a step back and really consider. Being Very Good for a Very Long Time is extremely impressive.

Adrian Dantley being above Elgin Baylor surprises me for some reason. If Elgin played in the league earlier than age 24, he'd be one of the top all time scorers. Dude could put the ball in the basket.

[–] Possible-Reality4100@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Nice career, but a stat compiler mostly

[–] SamNotRam@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Always have absolutely loved DeMar, wish we could get him in the lakers somehow, Raptors did him dirty asl though being a sacrificial lamb just for a one and done Kawhi who couldn’t give a single f*ck about Toronto

Truly believe only thing that's stopped Derozan from contending regularly is the teams he's been on.

Raps had Lebron in the way, were never that great on paper.

He carried so hard post Aldridge on Spurs. Pop had him mad efficient, passing well, but always left to do too much in playoffs. And Bulls... welll... through no fault of his own. But he's kept being great there right? Maybe with less assists, more scoring.

He's one of my favs. Always gives the best efforts.

[–] IamVUSE@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Will forever be one of my favourites.

He came into the league purely on athleticism and developed into a really nice pro. What all GMs want when they draft a guy like him. It was awesome to see him come back after every offseason and see an improvement.

[–] TheMoorNextDoor@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

Honestly didn’t have a clue.

Silent assassin

Demar is in the hall of very good. He has some accolades but don’t think he’s ever been seen as a top 10 guy at any point in his career. Similar to Lowry they have nice careers but never were really in that great player category besides that 1 Chicago season by demar.

[–] PaperMoon-@alien.top 1 points 11 months ago

I wish he'd be on a contender

As a Raptors fan, I got a good look at DeRozan.

He defence was obviously lacking (more so then than now), and his 3 point shot (which he has markedly improved) was weak.

But that said, the rest of his game was incredible, and this guy is one of the most underrated All-Star and All-NBA calibre players since 2000.

He could attack the basket. He had likely the best mid-range jump shot in the league for much of the past 12 years, and he was a reliable playmaker and rebounder.

If Jordan could give you 30/6/6, DeRozan could give you 25/5/5 (or certainly 23/4/4).

Didn't quite have Jordan's post game, but his offensive game was a lot like Jordan's for somebody who was so seldom compared to him.

We've seen a HIGH bar for shooting guards over the last 30 years: Jordan, Kobe, Wade, Drexler, Harden. It's easy to overlook such a talented player as DeRozan.

Had he played in the late 80s and 90s... people would have likely seen him differently.
