It's a rare moment when a legitimate legend of the game goes, especially one that at least appears to be universally liked. Hell of a legacy.

A legend of Manchester United, England, and football itself. May he rest in peace.

He made his team something better for sure, that's good.

I was watching the Beckham documentary on Netflix, Bobby Charlton was mentioned and showed his iconic performances which brought back memories.

As soon I paused the documentary, I received a popup notification delivering the chilling news of Bobby Charlton's passing...

Rest in peace, legend.

My sister and I were just watching the Beckham docco tonight and chatted about Bobby Charlton when he featured on the screen. Wow.

RIP to the greatest Englishman to play football and the last Munich survivor

[–] WauliePalnuts01@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

one of the greatest players ever and one of the most important figures in the history of manchester united and english football. RIP.

By now he's found his mates who were lost in Munich and he's catching them up on all that's happened in the 65 years since. I'll remember him as the distinguished looking grandfather in United's executive seating, always looking happy to be there and a calm presence through periods of turmoil.

Ah man, this is sad. Fantastic player, from what I understsand a good human being, a great ambassador for the game, a true legend of English football. Also, I think, the only man with a combover ever to win the World Cup. Also possibly the only man who looked decent with a combover. RIP Sir Bobby

RIP legend. One of The truly greatest.

[–] loslukos@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This man was the best footballer, that's the only thing I would mention.

[–] grelch@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Was Sir Bobby the last remaining survivor of the Munich plane crash in 58? That often got overlooked when people talked about Charlton. That he came back and represented his club and country with such strength and conviction reflects on the great character he possessed. RIP Sir Bobby. It was a privilege to have seen him play.

Hope his family will be doing good in coming time because we all know it will be a tough time for him, hope his family will just have a power to handle the shock.

[–] Romans612@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Hoping the best for the family, his family really need enough courage and power right now, hope they all will be okay in the coming time, he was really a legend.

[–] nahnonameman@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Rest in peace to a hero and legend of Manchester United. Thank you for everything Sir Bobby Charlton

[–] floydldkunst@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Man Bobby Charlton's death stings. He was more than a footy great he was a true gentleman. From his days at Man United to helping England win that '66 World Cup, his name's etched in history. But it's his down-to-earth vibe that set him apart, and we'll miss that.
