I’ve only been following NBA for about 8 years now and I’m curious as to who was the most surprising MVP considering their position going into the season. For me it’s Russell Westbrook but even that wasn’t that surprising.

Stephen Curry made a comment prior to the 2014-15 season along the lines of being the best offensive player in the league and a lot of people scoffed at how outlandish that was. Obviously, that ended up being his first MVP season. Derrick Rose in 2010-11 also.

Steve Nash '05.

Going into the season people kinda expected Westbrook to win MVP. The team was now fully his and the narrative was already building the second KD left.

It’s probably curry in 14-15. If not it’s definitely Drose in 2011
