He stated, “It has served its purpose. There is very little incremental utility. Let's go to Mars,”

Feel free to go anytime you'd like, moron.

A key piece of context is that he recently had a Twitter spat with the head of the ISS program when Elmo suggested that the two "stranded" astronauts were kept up there for political reasons, and the better person called him on it. Leon, as he does, called him a stinky poopoo head, and this "decision" immediately followed all this.

Conveniently he has a plan to create the XSS that very same year...

With all the junior devs he surrounds himself with, I'd expect him to be sick of XSS by now.

Can anyone enlighten me why an openly fascist unelected person, with a potentially violated immigration status, and private capital motivations, continues having government data access, and making claims about things he has 0 business being near?

Sorry, I can only come up with a few hundred billion rea$on$.

Trump needed the money during the last election. Plus, this way Trump can blame all this unpopular stuff on Musk. Trump can say he was just listening to the business community. Now if your question is "should" rather than "why" the answer is no, he should not.

Because this is what Amerikans want. They don’t bother voting and don’t care to actively participate in democracy. They’d rather have a strongman who tells them what to think and do. It eliminates cognitive load that could be better spent on TikTok or other short-form video apps.

I thought his company was supposed to move astronauts to the ISS for the next 5 years? Is this to get out of a contract his company can't fulfill?

[–] ExtremeDullard@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 1 day ago

He'll just ask to be compensated for early contract termination.

[–] ThePowerOfGeek@lemmy.world 8 points 1 day ago

Pretty much. Over the last couple of weeks he's stolen all the money he would have got from the government as part of that contract. So now he wants to bail on the obligation part.

money not spent on him (like his mars bullshit) is 'wasted' money. being an iss taxi is only some of that.
