He already wasn't coming back when he called Morey a liar in China. His mom being ill was an unfortunate coincidence. That being said, he's not playing basketball for awhile and when he does, it won't be in Philly.

Agreed, but it's also not the first time I've heard this rumor, especially from people in the Rockets media ecosystem.
From what I've seen it seems like his mother has cancer, she seems to be treated in Houston which is why Harden has been going there every time he gets the chance to in the last few months.
