Cursed franchise
He's gonna quit basketball.
I’d go visit each of the team subreddits, and you’ll get a decent idea of the fanbase’s [online] culture. Widdle it down, and then decide which team has the players that interest you most. Offhand OKC, POR, SAS, SAC all have pretty good fanbases, a promising future (bit rough in POR rn), and some fun to watch players.
I only recommend checking the team subs because becoming a fan of a team is somewhat like joining a community, and some of those communities are fucking unbearable.
Edit: Also may seem silly, but maybe consider the team’s announcing crew too. If you watch frequently, you’re going to be spending a lot of time listening to those guys. Like I love Eric Collins (Hornets), but I’m sure he’s too much for some people.
Come to Sacramento
Root for the warriors. Cos they ain't ever winning shit again.
Thunder or spurs. You're welcome
I started following NBA on the 2021 playoffs, and in June I chose the Timberwolves as my NBA team. A promising year from Ant made me hopeful to watch something fun beginning to brew, a feeling that disappeared with the Gobert trade. At least we have Naz Reid...
Lakers or the Warriors
Not worth it rooting for small market teams, you’ll just be disappointed and mad that your team is nothing but a talent farm for big market teams
If you’re looking for misery, may I suggest the Chicago Bulls.
There have been a lot of rumors about new franchises starting up in the next few years. Maybe you can wait and start with a team from the very beginning? Could be a cool fan experience.
There’s room on the Tank here in DC for you 🧙🏾♂️
Pick the team mascot that you like the most, then pick colors, and then Jerseys.
That's what I did in 1995/1996 and I've been a Raptors fan pretty much since day one and I don't regret it.
When I was young I cared about players and their personalities. Not so much anymore. I like teams with an identity on the court. I’d say, keep watching and just find a team that has an attitude that suits you.
Where do you live? It’s nice to be a fan of a local team you can actually watch live from time to time.
Western NY. I’m in the Knicks/Nets market; but I bought league pass so I can watch anyone
