New free throw routine just dropped, Ben Simmons and Giannis about to implement this into their routines.

Ben Simmons will never be caught dead shooting one-handed free throws. He cares way too much about his image.

Jeremy Sochan's one hand, Rick Barry's granny, Korean basketball's bankshot... are all proof that Ben Simmons, Rajon Rondo, Shaq, Ben Wallace, Dwight, DeAndre, and every other lazy basketball player let their ego get in the way of doing real work at improving their free throw percentage.

I appreciate you leaving off giannis because he really does work on his free throws. With that being said giannis please, for the love of God, figure it out

It’s all a mental game sir

[–] bbqoyster@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Coming off clutch 17-19 in a close out game gets him a pass

[–] Tonturtle@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Eh I feel like this could be mental for some players not most but some

[–] mca0014@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

It really isnt, just look at wilt

[–] hotpocketthrowaway@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Giannis gonna add this to his pre-shot motions just to pad the time even further

[–] gedbybee@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ben Simmons cares too much about what people think to ever try this. That’s why Ben doesn’t shoot jumpers. It’s why Ben didn’t dunk on trae.

Giannis might do this tho.

Whatever works i guess lol. It‘ll always look weird though

[–] ProfessionalFly9848@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

this is basically what normal shooting is, the off hand really just balances the ball for you

[–] gheudh@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Giannis needs this. And to speed up his fucking form. I can feel his anxiety through the screen with those long pauses

Different than the NBA, but shortening my bowling approach improved my game immensely.

Used to have a routine of "Put ball/arms in right position, focus on mark, double check feet are in right spot, remember to take a slow first step, then go."

Now I just walk up there, assume I'm going to have the muscle memory stuff down, look at my mark, and go. Having my best average so far this year in over 30 years of bowling. Might be a fluke? Or maybe I've been getting in my own head for decades.

It’s the same form you would use with your guiding arm, except it forces you to follow through better and generally makes it easier to keep your elbow lined up with the basket.

Realistically, we only use our guiding arm when shooting because it helps you get your shot off quicker without the ball flying from your hand.

Reminds me of Aziz in Parks and Rec doing two-hands to roll a bowling ball and Ron getting mad at its effectiveness

[–] lawyerlyaffectations@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think every player who struggles from the line should use this method. Makes you focus on form more.

Immense respect for a guy who cares about substance over style. Love how he just steps into it and goes too, no routine.

[–] myeezy@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

What's more stylish that one handed free throws?

[–] RipCityGringo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Underhanded freethrows

[–] MoooonRiverrrr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

[–] En_rique06@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The important thing in a shooting form is " does it work?" Yes?, so let's continue!!!

[–] oceanfloors1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'm a simple man. I see Jeremy Sochan on /r/NBA, I upvote.

[–] Pensw@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

[–] ChameleonWins@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
