Day 1
NFL
A place for NFL news, game highlights and everything that excites you about American Football.
When the deal happened I said I would only consider it successful if we won 2 super bowls with him. I’ve even dropped down to go to 2 and just win 1. I don’t feel confident. At all.
Looking at it objectively, it’s still too early
The real disaster is that someone who definitely assaulted 25+ women was not deemed to be in banned from any NFL facility, much less to be the face of a franchise. But honestly at this point as much as I hate everything that happened I am really enjoying watching him stink and the Browns totally squander what really could have been a Super Bowl window. Fuck Deshaun. Fuck Jimmy Haslam. Same. Old. Brownies.
You're right. But there's more to it, and it's the same. old. ALL. of. us.
You know why the NFL has never banned him? Because they knew that not banning him would result in exactly zero loss of revenue for them - and they were absolutely right. Look at us all. How many of us have actually taken a stand beyond typing our disgust in r/nfl, and literally stopped watching, stopped buying merch, stopped having anything at all to do with the NFL?
I'm still here. We all are. When all is said and done, Watson is still here because we're all still here.
🤷♀️
Last year
Day 1. This was an easily foreseeable outcome.
When someone in a board room said '20 rapes is nothing if him throw foosball good!' without anyone stabbing him.
If the Browns do not win a Super Bowl with Watson under center, it is going to be considered the worst trade of all time. Maybe second after the Herschel Walker trade, but I doubt it.
Never forget, Watson went 2 and 12 in his last playing season and boycotted his team in the next season after getting a huge contract.
The second it happened, even if he’d played great. They literally traded for a rapist…
Jimmy and Dee were clearly thinking with their dicks on this one from the start. He left the Texans in the lurch by sitting out the season over the D Hop trade not being run across his desk first and sexual assault accusations, he said no in the bidding war to Cleveland initially until that 230 million guaranteed came up, no trade clause, nothing to hold him accountable now it doesn’t matter what happens or how long his season ending /cleared shoulder injury persists, he can do whatever he wants because he has fuck you money in the bank.
I thought it already was a rated a disaster
I’d say that passed.
When it happened
Texans would officially like to offer Davis Mills to Cleveland for 3 more 1sts.
As a franchise, they're just as relevant as they've ever been.
I doubt they needed to drop a quarter of a billion dollars on a twenty-six-time rapist to maintain said irrelevancy, but I'm not an NFL GM, so what do I know
When it happened.
It should right now!
PR wise from the start.
If they miss playoffs this year, sport wise too, imo.
That was one of the most Browns things to ever happen. They fucking had Baker. And he was the best QB in the history of the Browns. Never gonna be elite, but definitely good enough to win with the right pieces around him.
But no, OBJ throws a fit, and they see a shiny object in Watson. They sell the farm for Watson, give him a quarter billion, and throw Baker in the trash.
They deserve every bit of what they're getting.
Yo it was the moment it happened wym 🤣
He was a disaster for the Browns the second he put ink on paper.
Aren’t we like way beyond that already lmao.
Genuine question. If DW retired today, I assume he would still get the full $320 million?
There were 2 instances, the moment that made his contract guaranteed only to find out he would be out the first 11 games. Missing games this year.
Browns were the laughing stock for so long, I was genuinely happy when Baker came along and we all loved the Browns for a minute. Then they gave ridiculous money to this obvious fucking creep ass weirdo. I'm so happy the creep ass weirdo sucks so bad and I hate the Browns forever and ever.
Now
When they made a gigantic guaranteed fucking contract with at fucking rapist
Lol. WTF kind of question is this. It was a disaster before they even put it in front of him to sign.
Fine, you want an exact point? When they wrote the fucking thing SPECIFICALLY to make sure he wouldn't be financially harmed in any way due to repercussions of his actions.
When announced.
They made it after he had not played in 8 month and likely wasn't going play for 12 more months. They made a fully guaranteed contract for Watson of all players. They made it knowing they didn't have a super bowl ready team (At that time).
Also they are the Browns. It was always going to be a disaster.
Is this Jimmy or Dee?
When it occurred?
Pretty sure everyone dubbed it a disaster the moment it happened
The second it happened.
It's been a disaster since the trade was conceived. I smoke my own goddamn body weight in weed every week and I could not get high enough to do that on madden, the browns fucked up in the most browns way. An incredible level of stupidity in decision making
Always has been
Idk but let’s post it weekly for the karma
We are well past that point in time
