You should get insurance. That is worth enough that you’ll need a separate rider on your renters insurance for it. A safe might protect against party guests but probably not against burglars (it’s easy to carry off a small safe)

It may be a good idea to put it on safe deposit box if your neighborhood is not safe.
Just get any decent good looking watch box, leather or wood depending on preference, there's many great ones on Etsy or amazon for ~ $50 - $100. That'll do wonders in making sure your watch is always in the same safe place when not worn. But on that not wear the watch, there's no value in keeping it in a safe. I would also recommend insurance for theft.
I pee on them to mark my territo..... I mean a safe plus insurance.
Before I leave my home I place them at random corners of the home and draw myself a treasure map so I can find them when I return home.
