The Ploopy open source headphones project (you can print them off for free with a 3d printer) is looking for someone who knows how to design a headphones I/O that includes a 2.5mm jack

Analog I/O is extremely standardized and simple.

Digital I/O is entirely board dependent, and you're looking at a very short list of very well-paid people who have significant experience working with any specific board at industrial scale.

Cool idea though.
