I've always ordered watches online and browse watches on official websites or general department stores. I've been more of a lurker than a buyer but am looking to buy an expensive watch ($3000-$5000) for myself sometime next year. On of my friends who buys high end watches always mention that his AD gave him 10-20% discount on the watch because he's been in contact with him for some time. I wanted to ask is the discount thing based on the purchase history or connection with the store? If I don't have any purchase history, how can I get a discount at one of the stores. Looking for suggestions.

Visit the AD and ask for it. If that's not working, find another AD and repeat the process.

If it's a regular model, I think it's possible as they will be more than happy to offer that to you in order to get rid of it. However, if it's a popular model, like the Rolex Sub, I doubt they will give you discounts.

Anyway, good luck.

You: “I can do x”

Dealer: “Yes/No”

You: “Yes/I will pass”

Pretty simple
