So first of all, shout out to u/mvhcmaniac for sharing some of this info on the Spurs subreddit.
Second of all small sample size and all that but still these numbers are pretty eye-popping.
For anyone who's watched his first few games, the amount of determined Victor has an opposing offenses as a 19-year-old rookie already is quite wild. Players simply don't want to Even try scoring on him.
The percentages with Victor as the defender per game so far:
Overall: 9.3 attempts, 1.7 makes, 18%
3pointers: 4.7 attempts, .3 makes, 6.4%(!!)
2pointers: 4.7 attempts, 1.3 makes, 28%
Also the Spurs have a defensive rating 20 points better when he is on versus off.
The scariest thing is he's not even necessarily super polished on that end yet. He's made several pretty blatant mistakes and had his rookie moments early. But even then his unbelievable physical attributes Give him a defensive ceiling so so high. It's crazy to think about.
