This is why I tell people to dump pitchers of water on Reddit employees if you meet one at a bar in Frisco. Also rub shit on the HQ front doors handle. Make them extra pissed off.
I hope all their party favors are laced, sf tech bros prob goin to illenium
I was permabanned without explanation and reinstated two weeks later, again without comment.
I believe this tracks with what to expect should we ever see the tech-bro billionaires divide the world into monarchy fiefdoms ocer which rhey are each the unchallenged lord and master.
A shadowban was triggered by a simple comment removal and a completely new browsers, reddit wants all your browser info, they dislike if your using a browser fork too, besides only chrome or main ff
Feel that pain this year would have been my 10th year on Reddit. I was permanently banned last June for saying I hope the libs of TikTok monster would get hit by a bus. It’s still blows I can’t post or comment on anything. I was part of a close nit group on Reddit involving a car subreddit and now it sucks to see people commenting on where I am and what happened.
Make a new account and tell them.
They track Machine ID and IP. They just auto ban any new accounts.
Try using VPN and different browser or delete local reddit data. Not sure if reddit allows VPNs anymore for account creation though.
Yea I’ve tried everything but no luck. New account, vpn, switched data, no go.
I'm curious are you using android? I have had two accounts get banned last yead and I didn't experience that.
I tried to like Reddit but every time I tried posting something I thought was original or thoughtful it would get auto deleted by a bot for not including the right "flair" or some other stupid shit.
Posting in r/showerthoughts was impossible.
Questions about dark matter removed from r/space
Lots more like that.
Showerthoughts was one I tried. I don't remember specifics but I tried a couple times to post actual thoughts I had in the shower and they got insta-banned by a bot so I just gave up.
Showerthoughts is a large sub so it's regulated.
Don't miss Reddit. I got my 10 year account permanently banned for making a complaint about a mod who temp banned me for no perceivable reason.
Eat a sack of damp turds Reddit.
Oh, you can get banned here. It's not like this is like a place of free speech. It's just that the internet is kind of created little pockets of echo chambers. It is what it is. And like it was always going to be like that anyways. I just like it that it's not monetized by corporations that are bombing the shit out of children.
The idea behind lemmy (and every other decentralized platform) is not that you can't get banned. The idea is that f the mods of one instance decde to go crazy, are bought by malicious people, or if there is an hostile takover (like what happened to freenode), then the network isn't compromized, and ideally there are plenty of other instances with a moderation policy you agree with and where you can recreate an account
lemmy.world mods have already shown they're not interested in moderating fairly.
I jumped ship from that awful instance when they decided to block piracy communities.
Would love to see them fade into obscurity.
you can get banned here
It takes special effort here, though.
And like it was always going to be like that anyways.
It's not inevitable: some places are very laissez-faire.
Only by the admin of your home instance, which is unlikely and normally comes after something very extreme (and can be mitigated by running your own instance, where you are in sole power over your account, so it cannot be banned globally)
But normally, you'll get banned by the community/certain other instance in very gruesome cases, but not your account.
