Braylon Edwards was so awesome in 2007 and never looked like that player ever again.

JR Reed for the Eagles looked like a potentially dynamic kick returner. Then he damaged some nerves when he tore up the back of his leg while jumping a fence.

What’s Matt Flynn up to these days?

Will Fuller V disappeared really quickly after leaving the Texans. Surprised me since I thought of him as a solid WR2, high end WR3 even with the injury issues.

I mean an obvious one is Aldon Smith. Imagine what he would have done if he stayed out of trouble

Fred Jackson. I remember he was a solid RB from back in the day

Edit: I appreciate the responses guys! I felt like he just went and disappeared one day from the league.

David Irving is the first that comes to mind for me. Had flashes where he took over games like Aaron Donald but just did not really care enough

Where did Thomas Rawls go?

Since he just got signed: Martavis Bryant. I literally thought he died until I saw the news

I thought Deion Jones would be a consistent top 5 LB.

Alfred Morris was elite and then randomly fell off the face of the earth

Montee Ball

[–] MavsFanForLife@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Michael Clayton had one of the best rookie WR years ever at the time and then just completely fell off.

80 catches for 1193 yards and 7 TD’s his rookie season.

His career totals were 223 catches for 2955 yards and 10 TD’s.

He fell off pretty hard.

Calvin Johnson if he landed on a better franchise

Travis Fulgham will always hold that for me. In hindsight he was probably never anything spectacular but he flashed when the Eagles had fuck all at the WR position (I am a proud owner of a Greg Ward jersey).

Everyone saw the potential in him. He got way too many chances for a guy who just doesn’t want to put on the work.

It's not even a good one, just one I personally experienced. The name "Mohammad Wilkerson" popped in my head while watching the Jets, and I wondered where he went off to. Turns out he's been retired for quite some time. These seasons really go by way too quickly.

Honestly I remember when Kwon Alexander would be hyped up and then it would die down. Then hyped up and die down. Same cycle.

Arian Foster. Had 3 or 4 really good seasons, some injuries, done

Didn't Stevie Johnson have a couple of thousand yard seasons in Buffalo? Did he get hurt or just regress?

Marcus peters , had a lot of hype around the draft and on the chiefs. Surprised he got dealt to the rams. Haven’t heard about him at all until he had that pick 6 vs the lions a few weeks ago.

Doug Baldwin. Felt like he just kinda disappeared. Then it turns out he had like a career ending injury. Felt like it was barely covered.

[–] wagoncirclermike@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Saints folks - what happened to Jairus Byrd? He was an absolute monster for us. His 2009 season was one of the best Bills rookie seasons ever, plus he made three pro bowls and an AP All-Pro second team spot. Then he left for New Orleans in 2013 and I really didn't hear much of him after that.

[–] Silversaving@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

BMW. Big Mike Williams of the Lions.

[–] sheddingpanda@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Whatever happened to JR?

[–] ty_rec@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

The first one that came to mind was Vic Beasley. He really just disappeared off the face of the earth after that one good year in 2016.

Sidney Rice and Miles Austin...they were both breakout fantasy players right around when I stopped doing fantasy.

[–] hockeylover1@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Kenny Golladay

[–] Morphitrix@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tom Brady was playing until like last year. Seemed like a decent QB, still fairly young, then just dropped off the map. ???

[–] Low_Beyond8134@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Todd Gurley was so fucking good

The most recent superstar that comes to mind is Gurly. He was an absolute beast for the Rams, helped make them a contender, and after some reports of arthritis he became a complete non-factor. I know he went to the Falcons for a little but it was one of the quickest declines I’ve ever seen.

Marvin Jones Jr. I’ve had a crush on him since he Mossed Eddie Jackson his rookie year.

Just glanced at his stats and they don’t look too bad for someone who’s had a career as long as he has.

[–] Patchy_Face_Man@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Geno Atkins just quietly disappearing after injury when we were all so pumped about him playing next to DJ Reader still bothers me.

[–] gmb96@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

BJ Raji, said he was going to take some time off and then just vanished
