He is an idiot. The league has done nothing for the last fifty years but market a few stars and teams to the casual fans to the detriment of the rest of them. They pushed a player and his team to a bunch of titles they didn't deserve through bogus foul calls because people liked some sneakers and now he's upset because the league sucks. What a clown.

It would be easier to have this type of coverage for the NBA if each team only played once a week and there was a 30 second break between each play.

Also, NFL coverage isn’t THAT much more sophisticated. You start taking about cover 2 shells or gap schemes and 95% of people are turning that shit off. These are entertainment businesses.

No one else wants that. Too many games and your stars are all divas.

You mean acknowledging that there are more than 5 teams in the league?

how much time does NBA give to the commentators to draw up Xs and Ox in the screen? Fees like NFL gives more time between plays to make that happen.

I hate when the commentators try hard to be funny or hip. You’re not suppose to try and act young or cool, call the action!

Completely agree, nba already focuses on player base marketing where they get all the blame too, team sport is suffering because of that.

Tell your refs to stop trying to be the main attraction and let your stars play.

well... maybe stop pushing the WNBA so hard, I had to stop following NBA socials because I was seeing so much of something I have zero interest in.

I like the NBA, but is too big market focus and main character focus. For instance, Denver beat the lakers in the playoffs. They swept the lakers in 4-0 (which is impressive ). When lebron talks about retiring towards the media. ESPN rather make a coverage about him retiring, than nuggets beating the lakers 4-0. What comes to nfl, they give every team their props. For instance a team like Detroit Lions are doing good this year and they get their props this year.

It's hard to get excited over a product that has progressively gotten worse over the years.

The NBA is a patty-cake league where players don't play defense or play to win. The league had to make a rule so they just don't sit on their asses and collect checks due to "injury." The refs keep the scores close to try to make the higher ups happy according to Tim Donaghy. Every other week there is a "NEW PRODUCT" to exploit the fans to "PAY MORE MONEY." Tickets prices are out of control. NBA commentators are so bad most just mute the game because they detract from the fans enjoyment.

Let us not even start talking about the All-Star Game and the Slam Dunk contest which are unwatchable and just pathetic.

But sure, all of the NBA's problems is because the press isn't doing enough promotion for the NBA's business product.

is that a good thing or a bad thing

Finally someone addressed it. I played basketball but my friends who didn’t and watch the NBA have no clue about any plays, sets, breaks, they don’t know why a team would play zone or the difference between hedging and icing etc…

However these same dudes who didn’t play football either can call out defences, recognize plays, have opinions on clock management, matchups, zone vs man etc.

Not saying Basketball is as complicated as Football… it’s not. However it is a ball control sport meaning, the player is able to control the play and influence it more than say Hockey.

This doesn’t make a sport better or worse, Hockey is crazy because of how fast paced and occasionally effort-based it can be. Football is great because it’s so analytical, it’s like analyzing a war, there’s a high degree of management and strategy.

Basketball is somewhere in the middle. Probably similar to Soccer but even with Soccer, the fans seem extremely educated on formations and schemes

The problem is that the pauses in play where commentary could discuss past plays and strategic adjustments are all used for commercials
There's no natural break in the play like in the NFL

I'd 100% pay for a broadcast that has no ads and strategy discussion of the game within the game in the timeouts, half times, etc
