Won’t ever happen. Too many trash thugs and trash chick analysts cover the sport now.

So then fire Reggie Miller

[–] rockstar_not@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Make it a sport again. Start there.

[–] know-it-mall@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well first step is make a fucking smart TV app like the NFL and literally everyone else with a streaming service has.

[–] Fullmetalx117@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We all know he’s specifically talking about Reggie miller here

“Oh no he didn’t!”

[–] Fullmetalx117@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Finally JJ Reddick doing the interview is hilarious…he doesn’t do analysis either, just berates Jefferson all day

[–] mr_sl33p@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

NBA Redzone. Let’s go! No free throws, no ref reviews, just all action.

[–] flappypancaker@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Dear god….

[–] arebee20@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Stop giving all your news to 2 guys then.

[–] butterbeans36532@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Fix the garbage officiating first

[–] BillowingPillows@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And I want to be 6 inches taller. Is wishing time over?

The nba’s regular season product is garbage and unless they reduce the amount of games it’s not going to improve. Silver will never do that though. So I guess we’ll stick with wishing time

[–] Tom_A_toeLover@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Then stop with steering certain storylines through your questionable referees

[–] BB527@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

JJ Reddick is on the forefront of this. I haven't caught much of his color commentary but I know from what I've seen he is detailed in going over the complexities for the game

[–] Wayne_E_Cal1@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He is systematically fing up the nba, the stupid tournament, the all mouth game, it’s inevitable that the game will be cheapened. False parity will weaken the game.

[–] StopMakin-Sense@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I want more analysis, less ad time, and shortening of the ends of games. The last 2 minutes shouldn't be as long as a quarter is.

I agree with what he's saying but he's far from the entire problem with NBA broadcasts

[–] VeRahNor@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Put out a fun product then.

[–] chfr@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So you're telling me "he got that dawg in him" isn't real commentary?

[–] Patrollerofthemojave@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Scheme and play calling matter much more in football than BB. One is a team sport and the other is a bunch of individuals on a team. Idk what he's looking for here.

[–] North-Philosopher-41@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I feel like this started in the Jordan era where instead of giving credit to the system from Phil Jackson, high Iq play by the pippen and crew, instead they just focused on Jordan and bothered him with off court drama.

[–] Raddish3030@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Sure.

But good luck trying to figure out the timing when to cover amazing plays, how much time has elapsed since then, the need for commercials and more.

NFL has discrete 1st - 4th downs. Time outs. Reviews. A significant amount of valuable "dead air" that can be filled as needed.

[–] 3251harvey@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We’ll just get Taylor Swift to fake date a player

[–] newledditor01010@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

There are way too many games for the NBA to ever feel as prestige as a game day of football (epl, la liga) or NFL

[–] LennoxAve@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I have no issues with educating fans on the x and o but don’t take away the drama talk. Lots of fans love the drama , trade speculations and hot takes.

[–] Rockface5@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Any media that includes Kendrick Perkins will never be legitimate

[–] well_jackson@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

NBA coverage is infantile. I would support this

[–] betweensweetcheecks@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I keep wondering why people like Stephen A. make a shitload of money. He’s loud and nothing more. Brings no insight, seems to have no knowledge of the game’s tactical side. Yet he’s like the highest paid ”analyst” there is. It’s a joke man.

[–] uber939393@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

"nba player attacks wife"

[–] Gangstakitty187@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ja and the charlotte hornets doing everything possible to make Adam silvers dream come true lol

[–] coolkarmabro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Put out a better product.

[–] nuggs_analysis@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

“Incredibly sophisticated offenses and defenses”. James Harden and Russell Westbrook sharing the same backcourt. Pick one.

[–] Thellamaking21@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago
[–] Leebillysteve12345@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

You mean espn reporting on lebrons latest tweets isn’t helping people recognize Jokic’s greatness? You don’t say….

[–] KaiTT57@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Adam, you got 5 guys playing. Half the game is one on one clearouts. 24 second clock effectively speeds the game up with little time for anything else but quick hitters. WTF is there to analyze. I got 50 yrs in the game and also played football. Hoops aint that complicated , get the tallest guys who can shoot or defend. The complicated part is how your executives blow draft picks year after year after year. Then hire their family over and over again. Call yourself Nepotism Basketball Association. 🏀

He’s absolutely right!! Most people don’t understand what the players are actually doing on the court and why. It would really quell a lot of arguments when people understand that there are systems players follow.

[–] GingerfaceKilla@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So … more Taylor Swift? Got it.

[–] Hogo-Nano@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Might be a little easier if there werent almost 5x as many games

[–] hansislegend@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Taylor Swift needs to date Wemby.

[–] ThonThaddeo@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Oh like actual analysis, rather than 4 idiots yelling at each other for an hour?

[–] jessediebolt@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Maybe media companies should start employing a bunch of retired athletes then. All they do is get on there and spew hot takes while acting like they know more than everyone else because they played. Rarely do I ever see a former player offering actual insight.

On one hand, he’s right but basketball is also just never going to be analyzed like football. So much of the game is played on the fly, instinctual and free flowing. Football has a play caller and a set play every single down. Basketball is just different and that’s okay.

[–] NimDing218@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Honestly, as a guy who barely played the game as a kid, understands rules, and just started being an active watcher, I’d appreciate some info. I have no idea what happens sometimes and I’m just waiting for someone to say what happened.

[–] feh112@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nba analysis is garbo You really have to dig for deeper analysis vids

[–] nycdiveshack@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

How about letting me watch other games live with nba league pass?

[–] santacruz_steve@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Give me an nfl redzone like show. Tonight is a perfect example of why we need it.

[–] kidkuro@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Keep Taylor Swift far away from the NBA

[–] buttfaceszn@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think the unfixable problem for the NBA is that there’s not like 5 TV channels anymore so very few people really sit down and watch all 82 games. It sounds good in theory but I’m not gonna start tuning into the NBA more because the announcers are slightly better. They’re basically suffering from the same problem that all of TV has been going through, which the NFL is only immune to because there are so few games so each one is much higher stakes and they all feel like a major event. Even baseball with 162 games feels like a better product because you can barely pay attention and put it on in the background and still basically follow what’s going on. Add all of that to the fact that you basically have 0 chance in the playoffs without a Curry/Lebron/Jokic level player and it’s hard for me to invest too much in the knicks despite being a competitive team knowing from game 1 that a second round exit is their ceiling

[–] dronedesigner@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Adam silver hates Miami heat confirmed.

[–] tubaraotucan@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

In terms of shallow color commentary, I think part of the problem is just pace of play. In the NFL, there is ample time to stop and explain in depth what happened on the previous play, which you just don’t have in basketball (or if you do, that time is given to commercials). It’s similar for soccer as well, I watch a good bit live, but the only way I learn the intricate tactics is by watching youtube videos after the games end.

[–] HungDaddyNYC@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

NFL has fewer games and it’s easier to keep track of everyone. I love the NBA but I don’t watch until the end of the season because who cares.

[–] Warioswallet@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I would welcome more analysis of what is happening on the court but please don’t give us NFL style macho militaristic bullshit. NFL announcers sound incredibly lame and corny to non-American viewers.

[–] Hibachi-Flamethrower@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

The NFL is covered by a ton of ex players and coaches. Basketball is covered by a bunch of people who can’t even dribble with their other hand.
