I’ve always had an entrepreneurial mindset which led me to getting a business degree ( associates and bachelors) with a concentration in marketing.

From this I had specified my career focus being more focused in digital media-content creation.

However where I live there are very few marketing agencies that focus on quality digital media/social media and seem to be ripping off many small business through these services by providing mediocre digital media services while charging $500+ a month.

I currently have been working as a one person team for a local business thanks to personal connections. However it is hard to convince/ have the leverage to get the owner to invest in spending more on media and digital advertising as I’m employed by this owner and they have a limited budget as most small businesses do.

I’m passionate about real marketing and digital media as I want to help small businesses understand and utilize digital media for their businesses to grow.

I’d love to start a sole-proprietorship/ business that could help this need in my local market.

My question is how would I go about starting this business/get the necessary access to capital to afford certain softwares and equipment being a “broke college kid”. I have good relationships with a few local business owners that would likely trust me to offer digital media services to them, just wondering if anyone has similar experiences or knowledge that could help me get there?

Try using your labor, not capital if you don't have capital. Your time is yours but if you try to look for capital without experience not only difficult but also risky.
