Just getting a consensus on how much people make doing AI, I think salary transparency is important and I want to know if I’m under paid or whether you are. Let’s talk.

Every single subreddit about any STEM topic is ruined with these constant money-grubbing posts about jobs and salaries.

[–] SnooChipmunks2237@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Why is that?

[–] MCRN-Gyoza@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Senior ML Engineer, 5 YOE, I work remotely for an US based startup while living in my home country.

Salary is 115k with a 10k bonus.

[–] Euphoric_Can_5999@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

You are crushing it 🚀 - nice career advancement post PhD to $1m TC!

I’m an applied scientist as well. Any tips for getting promoted to Senior/Staff as a scientist? Lots out there for SWE but less for us.

[–] Fun-Impact-2859@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Im down 50 dollars from the Bishop textbook

[–] BusinessReplyMail1@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

~330k TC. It’s in line with levels.fyi as others said.

[–] lifesthateasy@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Around 88k gross including bonuses, I think around 6 years of experience, around 3-4 that's actually DS/ML within that. In Hungary, where the average salary for a medior Python dev is 50k and the overall average salary in the country is 19k.

[–] TwizstedSource@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

£67k + 10% variable bonuses in Cambridge, UK. 5 years experience

[–] Denizantip@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

$72k. Ukraine. 4 years. Computer vision. LLM. NLP. PyTorch. Tensorflow/Keras. Onnx. Also working as developer in parallel.

[–] i_know_about_things@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Can you please share what company and position (DM if you want)? I'm in Ukraine too, work at a pretty good company as a Research Engineer, same experience basically but my total comp is around $47k.

[–] Electronic-Win-5446@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

55-60k in Germany. After taxes 35k

[–] Eastwindy123@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

75k GBP London. But us salaries for the same role in Seattle are approx 130k usd. For context I graduated in data science in 2022. This is my first job as an ML scientist.

[–] Pretend_Voice_3140@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Did you graduate from a master's or PhD? Also what type of company is it e.g. big tech or startup?

[–] Eastwindy123@alien.top 1 points 10 months ago

Masters, and reasonably big company. 15k employee. Not 100% tech but ml org is by far the biggest.

About 350k ( 270k base + 30k bonus + 50k rsu) . Masters graduated in 2014,working in ai since undergrad. No informal papers published but lots of patents and open source contributions. I'm more of a implementer, but want to do more basic research. Worked in gov, for Google, banks and now for insurance companies.
