Smith is going to convert Bijan to a tackle and make everyone look stupid. It's 3d chess people. You thought he was stupid for taking a rb high. Jokes on you!/s

I think teams have decided to tank in years they don't think they can make the playoffs. Making bad coaching and roster decisions is an easy way to do it. Tank for a cheaper, better roster makes sense if you can't even make the playoffs.
It's really interesting how I think the people talking about Bijan's usage differently from the people who were complaining about Gibbs's usage.
There are probably fantasy owners involved in Bijan discourse, but I feel like this one is less driven by that than GIbbs.
I wonder if it's a bias I have or if it's actually just that Bijan misuse is total malpractice.
Legitimate question:
Running backs are notorious for breaking down because of injury from overuse.
Why would they give Bijan 20+ carries a game? Just because you force feed him the ball doesn’t mean you win more games. Otherwise the giants would be undefeated since Saquon gets a billion touches a game. The team around Bijan is still building - they don’t even have a serviceable QB.
It makes more sense to me to use Bijan as little as possible during his rookie year since he’s a long term investment. You didn’t draft him because he was the missing piece.
Allgeier is the every down back and Bijan is the change of pace back.
Allgeier is the short yardage back.
Bijan is the passing game back.
Their use cases have reflected this and people just believe this RB concept doesn't exist anymore even though we've seen it for decades.
And that's why the Falcons aren't winning games. They wasted a #8 pick on an electric game breaking running back and aren't feeding him the ball.
Bijan has 103 carries to Tyler's 116.
is RB2 to Tyler Allgeier
It is absolutely criminal his usage.
Bijan has 404 snaps to Tyler's 229 and has started every game over Tyler (when healthy). He's on the field 75% more than Tyler. He's very clearly the RB1.
Tyler has only had more carries than Bijan in 3 of the 9 weeks so far. And one of those weeks Bijan was injured (week 7, nfi). Bijan has 41 targets to Tyler's 16.
Also, Tyler has 20+ lbs on Bijan making him the back for short yardage situations, which may contribute to a lower YPC.
Using Bijan as a decoy is criminal usage.
Change of pace running backs can do that. Rex Burkhead averaged almost 5 yards a carry one year, and he's great, but it's the system worked for them. It's not like you can bump up his carries to 30 a game and expect the same result.
Except Bijan isn’t a CoP back. His average is much higher than Allgeier’s on almost identical carries.
Load management for RBs is becoming more apparent. They aren’t going to run their rookie into the ground year one. I get the frustration here but the league is starting to protect these guys. There are very few all down backs anymore.
The only reason you draft a RB that high is to ride them into the ground. What you waiting for ? The big contract ?
Maybe preserving his body lol
As I was told by a Falcons fan vehemently, his usage is fine as this is how they planned to use him all year.
So apparently as long as you planned it beforehand, you can underuse your 1st round picks on their cheap rookie contract, but Hey, he's a RB so you really don't want to use him much while he's young, cause you want him around until he's 35 right.
As a Falcons fan, I can assure everyone that this is one of many offensive issues that we are experiencing..
It's baffling a team spends a premium draft pick on a RB then don't use him.
Especially when you look what else was on the draft board at the time. Look at the next 2 picks, would have helped them immensely, 30-40 + snaps per game.
Be like if we ran CJ out for 3rd downs only. Probably still be a certified stud. But crazy to use bijan so sparingly
Falcons make me feel good about our offense
If Bijan was a 7th round pick he would be starting right now.

But.. he’s not.. he gets more touches than Allgeier. 15 touches for Allgeier to 17 touches for Robinson
Fantasy got you guys maaaaaaad
Bijan is RB1 cause of his dual threat capability
It's just Arthur Smith is a dumbass who doesn't use both of them properly
Reddit: The NFL abuses RBs and runs them into the ground and ruins their bodies on the cheap while they're on rookie contracts!
Also Reddit: WTF why are they preserving their generational RB, why won't they use him more?!?
It's so funny to me all the people in off-season clamoring that RBs don't get second contracts that are lucrative, 1 factor is that they are overused in their rookies years and are burnt out after 2 years
A reminder Falcons could have had Micah Parsons and Jalen Carter but instead opted to draft a TE2 and RB2
As a Longhorn, this tells me that Arthur Smith is a dumbass who never saw Bijan play in college.
Maybe once they realize ridder wasn't it or at least isnt it this year, they decided to protect their young assets, like Bijan and Pitts. Division might suck but this falcons team is not ready. They certainly have some excellent pieces...
I dont know if it's all that ethical to essentially throw by underutilizing your young talent, but if I was falcons leadership I certainly wouldn't mind considering next year. Esp your young stud RB. Save them carries for the future and keep him healthy as hell. Especially when you have another RB who performed ok last yr. I get algeier ain't blowing anyone's mind this yr but it's not just about his skill, it's the team around him as well. Why put Bijan thru that
Have we considered he may be 5th in YPC because he's RB2? Like how Felix Jones used to average 5+ YPC for the Cowboys while being RB2 for Marion Barber but couldn't keep up the pace when moved to the starting lineup?
I don’t think a 13 carry difference over the course of half a season makes him an “RB2.” It’s just a rotation that splits carries fairly evenly so that neither get tired out at one of the most physical positions in the game.
The lack of red zone attempts may just be explained by the Falcons not being in the red zone a lot.
For those that say "he was always going to be used this way", you could have gotten basically the exact same production with a much cheaper draft pick. If you're going to use a RB in a committee or as a decoy that's perfectly fine, but you can get that from a mid or late round pick. It's not fine to blow the number 8 pick on something like that.
Cool edits freak out more
Totally not an oversimplification. Nope.
he's saving him for when he gets fired
Arthur Smith is a football terrorist.
Arthur Smith is trying to be so different he's gonna lose his job
Commanders certainly want to, I feel like McLaurin and Dotson were dropping so many balls they got the memo but Sam didn't cut he's got that dawg in him
Jooooonnnuuuuuu!
