Cowboys got Micah Parsons, Trevon Diggs, Ceedee Lamb, Tony Pollard, Tyler Biadasz, Osa Odighizuwa, Donovan Wilson, and Connor McGovern out of this 3 year draft span.
Even with the Trey Lance pick the 49ers have some insane hits in this timeframe
Nick Bosa
Deebo Samuel
Dre Greenlaw
Javon Kinlaw
Brandon Aiyuk
Jauan Jennings
Talanoa Hufanga
Elijah Mitchell
Kinlaw is bad. Jennings and Mitchell played above their draft spot but neither are major stand outs. Mitchell had a shot but the dude is literally never healthy
Honestly I loved our 2020 and 2021 draft classes (like, Burrow and Chase alone will do that). Been a while since the 2019 though and I’d need to look back on who we grabbed.
Feels like the 9ers have had some great drafts in that time
For notable players, the Cowboys in 2019 got Tony Pollard, Connor McGovern, and Donovan Wilson. 2020 we got Ceedee lamb, Trevon Diggs, Tyler Biadasz, and Neville Gallimore. And 2021 we got Micah Parsons, and Osa Odighizuwa. So in 3 drafts we got a good amount of starters/contributors 3 franchise players.
Undrafted free agents also had some hits in 2020. Terrence Steele (starting RT), Rico Dowdle (current backup RB).
not us
Dallas? Off the top of my head they got Pollard 2019, CD and Diggs 2020 and Micah 2021.
We don't have the best because our drafting dropped off drastically in 2021, but our 2019 and 2020 draft classes performed so well in that first Brady year, there's no chance we win the Super Bowl without them.
That's got to rank very highly.
Absolutely. Many packer fans are convinced that drafting had zero impact on our contention window. Y’all are a very convenient and convincing counterpoint to that asinine take.
Peep those raiders draft classes 😎
I feel like you gotta have a franchise QB in there cause they're gonna outweigh anything realistic. Jags imo got the most beyond Lawrence just by not fucking up the Josh Allen pick in a bit of a landmine first round, + Jawaan Taylor, Etienne, Tyson Campbell, Andre Cisco, Davon Hamilton, Minshew, and not for them but Quincy Williams looks great for the Jets now.
9 of our current starters came during those 3 years along with 5 depth pieces, however we also drafted Trey so it's definitely not us.
Dolphins have been pretty solid:
Christian Wilkins, Andrew Van Ginkel, Tua Tagovailoa, Robert Hunt, Brandon Jones, Jaylen Waddle, Jalen Philips, Javon Holland,
Honorable mentions: Hunter long (used in Ramsey trade) Austin Jackson (playing well this year)
Ours have a few stinkers so I don’t think it’s the best, but it’s still been pretty solid
2019: Mecole Hardman, Juan Thornhill, Khalen Saunders, Rashad Fenton, Darwin Thompson, Nick Allegretti
2020: CEH, Willie Gay, Lucas Niang, L’Jarius Sneed, Mike Danna, BoPete Keyes
2021: Nick Bolton, Creed Humphrey, Joshua Kaindoh, Noah Gray, Cornell Powell, Trey Smith
Some of these guys have been downright great, but we have some fairly poor ones that keep us from being the best
Yeah Chiefs aren't the best, but it's really impressive how well they do in rounds 3+. They haven't hit much on S-tier picks as often outside of Mahomes, but it's crazy how much production we consistently get from day 3.
Most teams don’t hit on multiple blue chippers per draft, though.
We’ve got a couple elite guys in Humphrey and Bolton. Sneed is near-elite and McDuffie is looking to be the same (if not a blue chipper himself). Willie Gay, Trey Smith and Mike Danna are plus starters.
We’ve done really well. If we keep drafting like this, there’s a good chance we’re in the mix for a Super Bowl every year for the foreseeable future.
For sure. But as an example, the Cowboys in these draft classes got Parsons, Diggs, CeeDee. They also got Tyler Smith, Biadisz, Pollard, and some others. That level of top end, AP1 type talent at some of the most important positions is tough to beat.
I’m excited for when we have these discussions about 2021-23 with Brad Holmes
2019 is so bad.
R1P8 TJ Hockenson - Traded to the Vikings
R2 Jahlani Tavai - on the Patroits
R3 Will Harris - Still with us
R4 Austin Bryant - On the 49ers practice squad
R5 Amani Oruwariye - on the Jags practice squad
R6 Travis Fulgham - pretty much out of the league
R6 Ty Johnson - on the Bills
R7 Issac Nuata - out of the league
R7 PJ Johnson - out of the league
Bengals
Not the packers
I think it might be an all time worst 3 year run, or at least certainly up there lol
Our gm is infallible. What are you talking about? Infallible!
Rashan Gary, Darnell Savage, Elgton Jenkins in '19. Jordan Love, AJ Dillon, Jon Runyan Jr in '20. 2021... Uh... TJ Slaton? Rookie Stokes?
For the sickos that are curious: https://www.pro-football-reference.com/teams/gnb/draft.htm
Bengals. Franchise QB and WR.
Every non top 5 team in the league would trade their drafts for that.
Our 2019 class had Josh Allen. Then several good players that are now on other teams. Quincy Williams. Minshew Jawan Taylor.
Our 2020 class was one of the worst drafts a team has made.
And our 2021 draft was utterly fantastic. Lawrence ETN Tyson Campbell Walker little Andre Cisco And also a backup TE
Homer here: 49ers.
2019 : Bosa(All Pro/DPOY 2022), Deebo( All Pro 2021), Greenlaw ( One of the better LBs in the league), Mitch Wishnowsky( Probowl punter)
2020: Brandon Aiyuk.( Starting X WR, 1k yards last yr, on pace for 1300 this year), Jauan Jennings (WR3)
2021: Talanoa Hufanga ( All pro 2022).
Though my unbiased take is the Bengals..easily. Tee Higgins, Joe Burrow ad Jamarr Chase in 3 consecutive drafts is one of the best stretches I have seen
If you did 2021 onwards, Eagles would be great, but 2019 and 2020 were stinkers haha
At least we got Jalen Hurts and that was the pick I didn't care for at the time
Let’s see what the Eagles looks like:
1st: Smith, Reagor, Dillard. Not great. Smith is a stud, Reagor and Dillard are busts and both off the team.
2nd: Dickerson, Hurts, Sanders, JJAW. Great. Franchise QB that’s an MVP candidate, a pro bowl lineman that’s still starting, a pro bowl running back that had some good years here, and arguably the worst nfl player in history.
3rd: Milton Williams is a legitimate post of this team so that’s a hit for the 3rd out of two picks.
4th: two guys are still on the team, Zach McPherson and Jack Driscoll. McPherson is hurt and he’s an important depth piece and Driscoll is a depth lineman that’s gotten chances to play.
5th: Kenny Gainwell is still contributing (more than most fans would want) but good for a 5th rounder. The others are out of the league.
6th: Tarron Jackson, Tuipulotu, Shaun Bradley, and Quez Watkins, are all on the team but a limited contributors. One other guy is still in the league in the chiefs.
7th: Patrick Johnson is still on the birds and Toohill is on the Commanders. Not bad when both 7th rounders make it.
So all in all that’s pretty good. Two big misses in the first round which is bad, but Smith is a great pick and they move made up for it with massive value in the 2nd.
Not us
Bengals. We got two great LBS, two no 1 WRs a top 3 kicker and a generational QB. Ignore the o-linemen we drafted.
Definitely not the jets. Zach Wilson number 2 when the next players drafted are all pros.
Dexter Lawrence, Darius Slayton and Andrew Thomas are all we’ve got.
We’re the only team with a best and worst draft in a 3 year span, that’s something
Quinnen Williams, Garrett Wilson, Breece Hall, Sauce Gardner, Mekhi Bekton... not so bad for the Jets
we had a lot of really great picks in that span but also a lot of really terrible picks
Seattle
Bengals and it’s not even close.
Cowboys have been pretty good:
2019: Pollard, Donovan Wilson
2020: CD, Diggs, Biadasz
2021: Parsons, Osa
Three All-Pros. Pollard’s dynamic. Wilson, Biadasz and Osa have been solid. Osa is doing great this year.
Dolphins deserve some consideration here: Tua, Waddle, Wilkins, Phillips, Holland
