Is Baskeketball not considered one of the great sports movies of all time? Its not quite Caddyshack or Rocky sure, but its definitely up there with like Rudy and Miracle and Happy Gilmore.

That Steve Irwin joke in the episode Satan has a huge party. That was and still is, in my opinion, the lowest blow in southpark.

They have another Steve Irwin joke in that season either before or after that episode too! Can’t remember which one tho, had it playing in the background one day just remember thinking it’s was pretty mean spirited back to back Steve Irwin slander lol
It's Matt and Tre. Self deprecation is pretty much all they've got. If you ask them, they won't say South Park is any good either. They're like "It's a stupid show we made out of construction paper and has crappy voice acting!"
For the love of Giant Flying Spaghetti Monster, they literally have a disclaimer at the beginning of every episode that says "...This show should not be watched by anyone."

I saw it once when I was 17 and found it funny and refuse to watch it again at 28 out of your same fears. Luckily I can always go back to Team America
You need people to like it for you to still like it? It’s a great movie. The dumb ones usually are. Pick of Destiny was panned, yet, in my friend group it’s a movie we still quote and we sing the songs. These type of movies were never expected to be box office hits, they make them cause they know audiences will enjoy it. Comedies don’t usually fair well with critics, anyway.
The amount of people on this sub that don’t understand comedy/satire is shocking.

Honestly, the amount of tone-deaf people here... I mean it's a South Park sub.
The most offended I've been by South Park was their very ill-timed joke of Steve Irwin's passing. It's not like it couldn't be funny and they themselves also make note that it's very ill-timed, but it just feels uncomfortable. I much prefer their follow-up jokes about it in that Mighty Ducks ripoff episode or one I did find funny being their Prehistoric Ice Man.

The only thing I found offensive about south park was how they pussied out of showing mohamed.

I honestly like it when they dog on themselves, even as a fan of Baseketball. If they're going to dish it out to everyone in Hollywood it's only fair that they're willing to turn that around on themselves.
I feel sort of similar when Trey and Matt dismiss all of South Park Season 3 and earlier. Yeah sure it was fuckin stupid but it was unique to TV at the time, part of the transition from 90’s to 00’s and it’s why I started watching it. Issac Hayes as Chef? Kenny dying? It was all unique and funny back then.
And a lot of the SP since then is pretty crappy sometimes even if overall the show has staying power
Trey in particular seems to have a hard time knowing whether something is good or crap. Apparently he almost pulled the plug on several good episodes inc the Warcraft one. And yet Tegridy got a whole season

I hear you, man. Baseketball was one of my favorites growing up too. Comedy is subjective though - what makes some people bust a gut leaves others stone-faced. At the end of the day it's just a movie, and we've still got the memories. Stay strong, Baseketball bro!
South Park laughs about every single thing in this world, especially religion, politics and "elders". But will you abandon your faith, political views or age? ...well, you can, but obviously not only because of a humor, jokes or catholic love for little boys.
