66% failure rate on the 3 absolutely match altering decisions is disgraceful, but the lack of consequence for the failures even more.
Football / Soccer / Calcio / Futebol / Fußball
Key word- unanimously.
Still whining 🤣🤣🤣
They say it isn't a foul, but I can see him pushing Gabriel with both hands into his back. Are the Premier League's independent key match incidents panel blind or stupid?
Glad theyre using that photo of kai instead of point of contact. Ya know with his trailing foot. 100% they only saw that photo in order to get to that red card assumption. Absolute idiots.
Again, post match whatever these panels or whatever the hell the want to call themselves means fuck all. If these people were so good put them at the VAR duty so that correct call can be made DURING THE MATCH.
As a newcastle fan;
Havertz should have been sent off 100%. I think Bruno should have been sent off aswell, 100%. HOWEVER, i feel if Havertz had been sent off, and had newcastle not recieved three yellows for dissent, bruno might not have been as wound up, that being said, there is no excuse for the elbow/arm to little jorge.
There is no discussion about the goal however, firstly gabs was 100% already going down due to his body position, and secondly are we forgetting the "clear and obvious error" wording. There wasnt anything clear about it in slow mo nevermind real time, think its time to let that one go.
Nice comedy gold from them here.
Anyone else notice the havertz pic is beautifully edited to look like the leading leg is striking the ankle instead of the trailing leg that actually hit it?
Arsenal fans still seething lol
1 out of 3... Nothing to see here, as you were 🤷🏻♂️
Pretty much the right calls yea
So the independent committee either is very biased or isn't independent if they think that wasn't a foul on Gabriel. Someone is trying to save face for the PGMOL
Joelinto absolutely fouled Gabriel though, as in there's no doubt about that, there might be a question about whether Gabriel could actually get to the ball regardless of the foul and that actually is potentially relevant to whether a foul should be given. It's also an interesting thing to think about, at what point is a foul not relevant to the outcome?
The problem now is that all this shit is out in the open and the language used to justify decisions is bizarre. In the past this was all background stuff, you'd get pissed off for a bit and then move on because the refs didn't say shit. Now they come out and tell you ' this obvious foul isn't a foul because technical language that's nonsensical '.
Everything about var and around VAR is dissatisfying.
Why is this being discussed 6 days after the game? It’s just Sky trying to squeeze out every bit of content possible from the ref decisions and not the actual football. Ref across the league this year have been poor in general and especially in this one. But I’m over this game, can we just let it die?
No, you don't understand, every one with a functioning brain must think that Arsenal got robbed, that the Saudis are behind the conspiracy of match fixing and that the VAR decision should have been viewed by Arsenal fans to ensure that there are no bias against Arsenal coming from possible Newcastle, Chelsea, Spurs, and City fans.
No one cares about what some pundits think, they don’t have jurisdiction and make decisions regarding officiating.
We just want consistency and quality referees. But that won’t happen for a while.
So apparently this is what this panel's primary role is:
"The Premier League, which co-owns PGMOL with the Football Association and the Football League, introduced assessment by former players for all the major decisions given – and not given – in the course of every game. Known as the “key match incident” (KMI) panel, it sits every week to vote on whether the major decisions were correct – and the score feeds into the overall rating which dictates an official’s place in the merit table and his bonuses."
Am I wrong? or does the panel's function, to determine the refs bonus, completely negate it's creditability? 🤷♀️ I mean did we learn nothing from Mike Dean admitting that the "old boys club" help each other out 🙄
My disappointment is immeasurable. A day might come when I'll completely stop watching coz of this MOTHERFUCKERS
Now have UEFA do one for Manchester United-Copenhagen
Ultimately the fact is that VAR worked for checking the goal as while I lean slightly towards it being a foul on Gabriel, there were no clear and obvious errors so the refs original decision stood. If ref said no goal then VAR would say no goal and we wouldn't be having this discussion as tbh I think that was being used by Arteta to distract from the fact they didn't play well that game.
Although how Bruno and Havertz both didn't get sent off does blow my mind
Arsenal get on with it. Proper embarrassed yourself. There’s been 19 worse calls this season. It all evens out. You will never get perfection. How did everybody survive without VAR?
Not mention of callum Wilson choking Gabriel and assaulting him? Even when they try to correct themselves, laughable
Why don't they show the part of the Kai tackle that actually contacted the player? You know, the top of the trailing foot that wasn't studs up.
Are they actually an independent panel. I get why technically they could be “independent” but aren’t they all just former refs and pgmol members?
If that’s not a foul, every single game from now on Arsenal should just start by floating crosses to the back post and blatantly push defenders down. There’s no need to be sly about it, make it the most obvious pushes.
