My husband just passed away from cancer and I want to get my boys a memorial gift for Christmas. I was thinking about a watch with their dads initials engraved on the back. I know nothing about watches so would appreciate any suggestions. My husband was a pilot, so a pilots watch maybe? Or a military watch? My husband had a Tag Heuer and I thought about getting a new band or something for that but it’s pretty beat up.

Hamilton are some nice watches that aren't absurd expensive or too cheap

I do some laser engraving (only have done a couple watches) - it’s not a buisness just for fun to go with Cerakote on mainly other items I build and enjoy (those who know, know). I engraved a watch for my mom when she got sick with a prayer. It was pretty long and she likes smaller watches. I engraved the inside of each link on the band and it really turned out great. Just good for thought. Sorry for your loss

I believe it would be MUCH more sentimental to gift the Tag to one son and something different your husband owned to your other son.

my condolences, i know you are holding up strong!

i’m not sure what your price range is as this is on the expensive side, but the Cartier de Santos is very nice and they do engravings with it also! The fit might be quite big for your boys though.

This was designed in 1904 and was the world’s first wristwatch! This was designed for a pilot friend who needed a convenient method to check the time whilst flying.

It’s around $11k so is very expensive but i think it looks beautiful.

It does come with a leather band as well

So sorry for your loss. Can I gently suggest you get proper hand engraving done to reflect this special gift, even just initials, and not just machine engraving at the local jeweller? In the US, Sam Alfano will be able to put you in touch with someone good if he is not close to you. https://www.masterengraver.com/
