I recently started working as a data engineer. My first projects would be with PowerBI and SQL. I would be able to learn and work with Python, Azure, and AWS in the next 2-3 years. My employer is a large consulting firm and I would be working on projects that would last several months and we'd implement various solutions.

I'm thrilled to have my current job and I'm eager to learn. Meanwhile, I want to have a long-term focus on how I could leverage my experience.

The most obvious career development would be to start my own consulting firm after I have sufficient experience. However, I'm trying to brainstorm other ways I could leverage my experience and build a scalable business in the future. If you have had a similar experience or any ideas, I'm happy to hear from you

You can also consider producing valuable content based on your expertise.

Find real problems, approach them from your perspective as a data engineer, write about it and you might eventually form a community.

Agreed. Content marketing / blogging will be a solid way to show thought leadership and generate new leads for your future business.
