Journalism is the easiest job going

Knowing Chelsea at the minute they’d probably do it as they see HG money as key. He is our best player by far though and loves the club. Incredible player not surprised City and every club in the world want him.

[–] Modnal@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I bet lots of team aren't interested in him for the simple fact that he's made of glass. But can see how a team like City who has a strong bench would be interested because he really is good when fit

Chelsea see HG money as key

Redditors have just invented this FFP quirk as something that Chelsea are using as their accounting panacea. They still have to build a functioning team.

Chalobah, broja and maatsen will go for pure profit ahead of him.

Even Gallagher would go before him, so don't worry.

[BeinSports] Stocksbridge Park Steels eyeing move for Kevin de Bruyne

I guess someone is still drunk from their Sunday weekend party.

Even if this had legs, what would it mean for Rico Lewis? Besides, doesn't Pep want his fullbacks inverting?

[–] sadcentur@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

rico’s future is probably in midfield

[–] normott@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

They'll sell Rico. Man City aren't scared of selling potential for the right price

[–] FrameworkisDigimon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Presumably he'd push up a CB, which he does anyway... but Stones is injured enough himself I'd guess they'd buy a CB as well.

I guess another option would be to just not have a winger on that side. Or Reece James would be the nominal winger.

Or maybe Reece James can invert.

[–] GSNadav@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Not really? If he stays fit he is just a younger upgrade on walker

[–] MotoMkali@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

I mean it would be a stupid transfer on cities part. What spend 100 mil to get 20 games a year. He's a brilliant player no doubt but he doesn't really suit cities system (though I'm sure guardiola could create a new one to fit him) and he just can't stay healthy.

[–] Sektsioon@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (3 children)

There’s not a single system that Reece James wouldn’t fit. He’s like the perfect fullback because there’s not a single weakness in his game. He’s defensively brilliant, he’s great in possession, he’s great in the final third. He’s got everything you want in a fullback.

Haaland and Doku (although still early) had constant injuries before they came to City and now they look better in terms of fitness

[–] MotoMkali@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Well yes but no it's about maximising his talents. Playing reece James in cities current system would minimise his great delivery and attacking output and if you only utilise half a players abilities it's not really worth it.

[–] mellvins059@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I think Reece is an unbelievable player. That said his concentration can be a glaring weakness. He loses track of his man who slips away from him in the 2nd halves of games now and then and it has punished us badly before. The weakness was particularly apparent when he was playing RCB.

[–] teemuselanteenvene@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

People were saying that Haaland doesn't fit their system before he joined.

[–] IM_JUST_BIG_BONED@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Tbf he doesn’t. He’s just so good that it doesn’t matter

[–] MotoMkali@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

I mean he doesn't really. They weren't creating more chances he just finishes the ones he gets at a higher rate and is more able to latch onto passes and other stuff.

[–] teemuselanteenvene@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's probably the most naturally gifted goalscorer in men's football at the moment, playing for a team that generates a ton of chances for him. In my books he fits the system perfectly.

[–] matttargaryen@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Yeah and I want Florence Pugh, we all can dream

[–] pratap_10@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (2 children)

👀 If Chelsea don't qualify for the UCL next season would James still consider staying at the club or will he look elsewhere?

Although Reece James has become an injury prone player these days, he is still an elite fullback and there are not many balanced fullbacks in the world and the majority of Europe's elite clubs would be after him if he decides to leave Chelsea.

[–] Aman-Patel@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Nah James would stay

[–] Triangle-Yeeter@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

James would stay even if we get relegated

Keep eyeing all you want Pep, he's never leaving.

[–] Gooner_93@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Never clicked, never read a single word, I dont even want you to post me the article in here.

[–] TheB11Ace@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

We're eying a move for Ronaldo as well. The R9 one!

[–] FunIrishBean@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Rashford to city next is it? The fact these journalists are paid for this shit

[–] Jamesy555@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Pep said I can fix him

[–] MrConor212@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Lol. Give us Haaland, Rodri and KDB then sure

[–] amainwingman@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Ah someone to keep KDB company in the infirmary

[–] AvikHyp3@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

He's a Chelsea academy graduate, a long-time fan, and current captain at quite a young age. I'm not really sure why anyone thinks he would leave rn

Did they forget to publish this before the game?
