Kia ora all

I currently work in an amazing job, great team culture, well paid and meaningful work. However I have been in this line of work for close to 13 years, and have decided that next year I want a change and am looking to set up a small consultancy business with my partner. Question if we do this, and pick up a range of contracts, can we simply bill all of the contracting costs to the business and then both of us take drawings from our business? Or will each of us need to be paid based on the different contracts that we individually undertake?

i.e. say I run a project which is for 3 months, and my partner works on a different project which is 1 month, can the 4 months of total work just be billed to our consultancy company and we each take drawings? Or is it paramount that I individually have to be paid for the 3 months and my partner must get paid for the 1 month etc.

Thanks
