Hey All,

I have I5 (7th Gen) desktop and I am running Home Assistant on Windows 10 (Hyper V), however, seems like the desktop is a bit underutilized. Any suggestions on what can be run on the machine? I am not a torrent or media download person. However, was thinking of running offline LLM model AI. Any suggestions on what you guys are running on your desktop/Raspberry Pi. The software on the Windows platform is preferred… :)

Thanks

  • DNS sever like AdGuard Home or Pihole - you can block ads across your network
  • node explorer, Prometheus, alertmanager- it’s easy to forget about your servers when they are running reliably. With node exporter you can monitor your device, Prometheus will keep the historical data, and you can send alerts to discord/email/slack if your disk space is running low or if your your temperatures are too hot.
  • Grafana - you can create custom dashboards from all of your other services and have really good graphs. Prometheus will scrape the metrics from other services and you can view them in Grafana.

It's designed to update, forget how to function, or both, at the most inconvenient times.

If you want to get serious about this you will absolutely ditch windows immediately. I'm sorry that you feel that windows is needed but once you ditch windows your options and stability will increase exponentially.
