He’s still the Goat

[–] Nexus369@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He stopped be the GOAT coach?

[–] f-150Coyotev8@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

People just say that because they don’t like him. These same people need to learn that someone can be the GOAT even if you are not a fan of theirs

Heh, this happens all the time in GOAT debates when the GOAT is still active. People think the GOAT should also be the current top 5 player/coach etc. People have to remember that being the GOAT doesn’t mean they don’t decline.

[–] NEpatsfan64@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

only to whiny patriots fans

[–] MurDoct@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He still is

[–] Early-Retirement-22@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

No hate here, just observation. Brady left and made another team much better, Patriots got much worse after he left. Explain why that happened in a way that leaves Belichick's legacy untouched. I have an open mind.

[–] nerdeagle2@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

A team loses a really good player and gets worse. A team gets a really good player and gets better. Truly shocking stuff

[–] Comprehensive_Main@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Yes. He does. All he needs to prove is he can have a deep playoff run without Brady. It’s not that complicated. But so far his tenure with the pats post Brady isn’t looking so well. It took Mike Shanahan 6 years to make the afc Championship after Elway retired. Bill still has time and is on year 4

[–] UglyDuckAI@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He never lost GOAT status. Dont be a silly.

[–] RNGezzus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Delete this.

[–] JPAnalyst@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Not if Brady is their quarterback.

[–] LordGooseIV@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Probably yeah.

[–] sophisticaden_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’d still hate him

[–] kamspy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Are Patriot fans down this bad right now?

[–] halfwit_emeritus@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is the biggest fairweather nightmare I’ve ever seen. It’s worse than the Philly guys who pretend they stuck with their teams through all the bad years, then start whining when the success isn’t constant.

[–] Idiotology101@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Pats sub has been saying he deserved to be fired before McDaniels

[–] EthanSpears@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He hasn't moved off being the GOAT coach.

[–] WakingWorldWalker@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The question should be more like, “If he wins a Superbowl with another team, will people go back to thinking he’s an emotionless half genius / half robot that Parcells had built in a lab Homelander-style?”

[–] FreddieFunkhouser@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

lmao yes he has, this is what it looks like when ppl are stubborn

folks spent 20 years being told and believing he was the greatest coach of all time. to accept the overwhelming evidence and give up that belief might make them look silly and they'll be damned if they let that happen

joe gibbs has a better claim for goat. won 3 titles with 3 different qbs who had only 1 all pro selection between them

[–] gavgavrkorko@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Agreed. He’s the GOAT coach. Dude has 8 rings, no one’s close. He’s not far off from most wins all time. One bad season and a few mediocre ones doesn’t discredit decades of being a coach no one wanted to face…

[–] Kegsun92@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He should coach college, thats the only place that hard ass shit works anymore.

[–] 90834278@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He's still the GOAT to me. I do think it's unfair to NOT hold his record without Brady against him to some degree. It hasn't been so bad that it knocks him off the GOAT coach spot for me personally though.

[–] brookskc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

100%. I think a lot of fans are in this boat, but the loudest fans are saying he isn't the GOAT. Even with Brady, a bad coach would have sunk him. There is simply too much body of work with Brady where things worked, and not enough post Brady to say he stinks (I think the pats snuck into the playoffs one year with Mac Jones). I'm too young to remember the BB pre patriot years, but my understanding is that they weren't good.

To the loud fans saying he isn't the GOAT coach, who is? Brady was viewed as a game manager for the first 3 super bowls and BB assembled great defenses. I think if you substitute out Brady for another very good QB, BB still wins 4-5 super bowls over that time frame.

[–] beard_meat@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I think if you sub Brady out for anyone else, New England has a new head coach by 2006.

[–] brookskc@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I think Brady's greatness was really proven in the second half of his career. The first half was more on BB. So I disagree that he'd be replaced by 2006, but I could see him getting replaced around 2013-2016 without Brady.

[–] BatteredAggie@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

All you have to do to block the dumb argument against him is say look at all of those patriot defenses

[–] AshBlackstone78@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He was never the GOAT to me. Bill Walsh is the GOAT.

And I’m gonna tell you why.

Bill Walsh’s concepts are used on all 32 teams. And not just on the field. But in player evaluation, and player-coach relations.

Bill Walsh laid the blueprint that everyone follows to run an organization on and off the field.

I have Belichick #2 all time.

[–] alsuder@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Shula’s swag alone cements him as GOAT for eternity 😎

[–] defalt86@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

People flip-flopping on Belicheck or debating if it was all Brady, don't have a clue what they are talking about, and we really shouldn't pay attention to their opinions. The guy was one of if not the greatest coach of all time, for longer than many fans were even alive. Failing to win with Mac Jones and a bunch of backups doesn't change that. And he doesn't need to win another to prove anything.

He never stoppped

[–] Dark_theFifth@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

8 rings LoL

[–] Jew_3@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

It depends. Does he get Patrick Mahomes as QB? Cuz if he does, it’s not him.

why would a patriots fan even ask this?

[–] xFluf_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Holy shit he's going to the Buccs

[–] reaper527@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Holy shit he's going to the Buccs

that team would be excellent if they had a competent head coach. they're a coach away from being a serious contender.

[–] Harry_Gintz@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Are there a lot of people saying he’s not the greatest all of a sudden or are you conflating that with people saying he’s not doing very good at this moment in time?

[–] SasquatchSenpai@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

He isn't the GOAT? He's already there.

But it'd be hilarious if he did.

[–] Anvil_No26@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Please help my team, Billy

[–] Sir_Fluffernutting@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

"Again"? Wut

[–] TheApologist_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

People put it on Brady, but forget the teams supporting cast was completely deteriorating when Brady left… a large reason Brady left to begin with.

OMG!! You replace TB12 with Mac Jones, with a vastly inferior supporting cast, and in OC/DC turnover hell cause they keep getting better offers elsewhere, oh and your a defensive minded HC in a super Offense league… oh and the rest your division (finally) doesn’t suck ass… name me 1 coach that wouldn’t need to enter a rebuild.

[–] reaper527@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

he would have to not be the GOAT in order to become the GOAT again.

[–] AshBlackstone78@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago
