What movies changed your life?
Or maybe inspired you to take a leap that you would've never thought to take.

To take it maybe one step further, how have these (or this) movies had an impact on you as an entrepreneur?

Someone in Colorado could say “The Dark Knight Rises” with no context and it would mean a LOT.

TV Series
The Bear, great story about the grind and importance of relationships and mental health. Love how personal determination is more important than logical analysis of the probability of success.

The Truman Show: Wake up to the "reality" presented you. Escape the bubble your masters trap you in.

The Count of Monte Cristo: From naive boy to cunning man, to actualized human.

The Shakelton Documentary: Leadership and resolve.

Gladiator: Do not have a price. Never cower from right action. Never bend a knee to tyrants.

In Time: Exposing the rigged game run on you.

I watched the founder and honestly I was expecting a heart warming story about a startup, but really it seemed like Ray Kroc just sort of got lucky and stumbled across an incredible production model that two other guys devised, stole it, and then happened to get stopped by Ryan Howard from the office who told him to make it into a real estate business

I mean its semi inspiring, but part of it was like, he didnt really do much outside of taking other peoples ideas and capitlize on them

if anything, it showed me if you have a good service or product, do your own business, and also guard your ideas. one thing that stuck out to me was Ray Kroc was listening to motivational tapes on the road, which I do

"Lone Survivor" The story of Marcus Luttrell; US Navy Seal

I challenge anyone to find a more inspirational story about desire, survival, over-coming near-impossible odds, the will to just keep going.

I had the honor of meeting Marcus Luttrell who was hired by a former employer as our motivational speaker.

Luttrell, a hulking 6'5 mythical-like character hobbled across the stage to a standing ovation (for his service and heroism.) You felt the presence of someone who appeared to be larger than life.

He stopped mid-stage about 10 feet in front of my table. He made a gesture with his hands as he said "sit-down". In unison, the 300 dropped to their seat in unison. We were riveted to this guy for the next 90 minutes which felt like 15 minutes.

There are a number versions of his speech on YouTube that run 60-90 minutes. You won't be disappointed.

The 90s movie Contact based off Sagans novel. Inspired me to be a woman in STEM when I was young. I thought the main character was so inspiring and wanted to be just like her (Ellie).

I did get my bachelors in CS with EE minor but couldn't handle the physics and pressure in being an astronomer like her and just stopped at my bachelors. But I still watch the movie over and over, feel the same wonder and inspiration every time.

Another more recent is, of course, Hidden Figures, but it wasn't life changing like above since I saw it as an adult, but I imagine it would have been if I watched it as a child. This movie still made me cry and inspires me.

Highly recommend both if you like engineering or space.
