Fuck Rolex and the typical rolex hypebeast wearer. Boring dials, boring styles that are imitated ad nauseum across other brands.
Watches
A community for watch & horology discussion.
I like my Tag Heuer 😬
Watches are jewelry and I like steering wheel pics
The posts asking whether their watches are genuine or asking what kind of watches they are aren't that bad.
The amount of posts with a wrist shot and a simple comment about how much they like the watch vastly outnumber the amount of people who come here looking for help, and I'd argue that the only real value that the wrist shot posts provide is making me aware of watches I didn't know about, which isn't many as most people have pretty basic tastes so you see a lot of the same watches on here. I think the "is this fake" posts are actually more interesting as I'm almost hoping it's real just to see an interesting, rare, old watch.
Watches without a date function are stupid.
I can't help but wonder if people only like cheap Casios ironically, or just have a token one in their collection so they don't look like a snob.
I hate butterfly clasp
Remember to sort responses by controversial to get the real answers
understated dress watches look classier than divers like the Rolex sub. Says someone who just got an SM300 lol.
Breitlings are ugly old man watches
Modern smart watches are superior to mechanical pieces and should be the standard recommendation for most people to daily.
Quartz watches are worthless trash that have neither the utilitarian benefit of smart watches nor the sentimental value of mechanical watches.
citizen eco drive watches are underrated
You may say that it's all about the movement and the history and the harnessing of time itself using only tiny metal cogs, demonstrating the god-like nature of man and so on, but we both know that you just fucking love the shiny on your wrist, you big tart.
So many microbrand launches just have a single size, 40mm +/- 1.5mm. How about 36mm, 40mm and 44mm? Or even a 48mm for me?
Tudor is a Rolex for the poor, and Baume et Mercier watches are massively underrated
Wearing a Rolex watch is a handy red flag for people to avoid: You are generally either -
A drone seeking validation
An unpleasant rich person.
Or wearing a fake watch to look like one of the above.
“””Homage””” for “knockoff” is a stupid and it makes talking about real homages like a normal person difficult. Why? Just why?
I get downvoted for this all the time but it’s the damn truth. No normal person I’ve met had said that that makes sense. Call it “copy” or whatever, but a blatant knockoff is not a “homage” in any sense of the word.
Tudor style "snowflake" hands look awful.
Nico is just a budget Archie Luxury.
Poor people should not get into watches.
The worship of G-Shocks is dumb, and you aren't any more of a "watch guy" for wearing a G-Shock than somebody is for wearing an apple watch
- Most people don’t care about what watch you’re wearing.
- Most watches look fine on most wrists and it’s unnecessary to go on Reddit asking if a watch is too big/small.
The Lange caseback meme is silly.
I don't like the diver style, mainly due to the dial. I don't have any deep historical connections to Rolex or Omega, since my parents were refugees who never had anything fancy to pass down, even after they became engineers, so maybe that's why.
I don't even slightly get the love for Nomos as a brand. Every one of their designs looks like it's been pulled from a happy meal or the reject pile from the Timex factory. Sure their movements are impressive, but how people can look beyond the designs is a mystery to me!
Grand Seikos don’t look that much different to regular high street seikos.
Stop putting Seikos next to Omegas like they’re the same
I genuinely despise Rolex and Tudor. I hate the AD bullshit. I think Rolex watches are bland and have strayed away from the tool watches they were supposed to be. And Tudor watches are chunky, ugly, overpriced, and I would never in a million years buy one (and especially not just to appease an AD to buy a Rolex).
Display case backs should be standard. How am I going to convince more people to get into watches unless I can show off the beautiful movement?
As a dude I want a pink Nomos Club Campus 38. Also it should have a display case back
Omega's new pricing is too expensive they are not good value anymore new. JLC are the same.
