I have a tcl 65” 4k Tv. I currently use Phillips shp9500 with it, and just plug it into the tv directly. Seems to work alright, and in terms of volume it is enough to make you go deaf if you turn it all the way up(anything above like 30% is unbearable to me, and I never go above 20% for actual usage, but majority of time it is kept at 10-15%).

But people always talk about amps and dac, but I am rather clueless. I know people say that you should use an amp with k702 because although it doesn’t have much ohms it is very inefficient. And that the quality or tone of the amp/dac can have a big effect, especially on such an odd set of headphones with such wide soundstage(mind you while I understand the concept of soundstage somewhat, I have no clue or ability to decipher if the soundstage on it is working the way it should, as I am a noob).

So, I am just trying to understand what I should do here. My k702 come today in the mail. I am not an audiophile so I will not be able to tell if it is getting all it can out of the tv besides how loud it is. So if I decide to go the route of buying dedicated parts… how would I go about using these headphones with the tv in the most reasonable way? I have heard apple dongle is not a good pair with these headphones, although I don’t even understand what apple dongle is, I just constantly see it in posts like these when I google/reddit search this topic. But in my searching I cannot find anything really about plugging headphones into a tv that I understand, so making this post. I’ve been reading about this stuff for days now, and get the general concept of some of it, but I just feel lost on what I should actually buy to use this with a tv, and how necessary it is if the volume from plugging it into the tv is loud enough for me.
