Let the battle begin! Which one would you pick as GADA from these two?

Rolex Datejust 36/41 in green or Omega Seamater Aqua Terra 150M Shades, also in green.

Spec wise the main difference is the power reserve of 70h vs 55h. I prefer the exhibition caseback of the Omega but Rolex has better bracelet and clasp. I really liked the Omega on my wrist when I tried in the boutique but at this level pricewise the DJ comes in the ring. What do you think?

Omega if it were me. But of course you're you 😂

Not a fan of the date just. So omega between these two. Either way you are getting an exceptional timepiece

[–] mattdev@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I own both and if I had to choose I’d definitely pick the Rolex. It’s a lot more comfortable and actually has micro adjustments on the bracelet, which is a huge miss on Omega’s part imo. Visually I like them equally I’d say but comfort is a huge deal.

Rolex because is increases in value

[–] thebarbarain@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

To me it's the AT all day between these two

[–] KazBodnar@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I prefer the magnified 3:00 date but god the hands on the AT are great. Not a fan of the 6:00 date, though. I've think I'd rather go for the Rolex because of the magnifier, the date location, and the bracelet

The Datejust.

They are both very attractive watches, and while I prefer the execution of the date window on the DJ, that's obviously subjective.

On the other hand, the bracelet and clasp on the DJ is much better, and the DJ is thinner at just over 11mm vs the ATs 13mm and change.

Come on now. No one really pays full price for an omega so it’s not an apples to apples comparison

[–] ohhhhhboyyy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Rolex all day

[–] cowied101@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Grey market AT! I honestly think the AT is the more interesting watch. It's also just my view, but small DJs on jubilee look slightly feminine. Dials on both are stunning. You could get two watches for the retail of the DJ, something to keep in mind.

[–] SaintESQ@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

DJ with a smooth bezel is not a DJ. 🤷🏻‍♂️

I tried on a mint green Datejust today, in my opinion it’s not a nice colour, in all the pictures it looks very different.

[–] ulrikft@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I by far prefer the dial of the omega.

[–] hamsterempire@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I tried the AT and it wasn't my thing, picked the explorer I instead. Make sure you really try on both watches before any purchase. I was about to pull the trigger on the AT and was lucky enough to try it in person before, which made me change my decision

[–] BeardAndPlates@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

AT all the way.

[–] DrTartakovsky@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

For that small a difference in price, I’d go DJ. If you go grey market, you’d get the AT for 5k.

I would say date just with the fluted bezel!

[–] Oxraid@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I bet it would be cheaper to go for a week to Dubai and buy AT there than to buy it at your price.

[–] dwitchagi@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I like the Rolex more. So if money wasn’t an object I’d get that one. I am currently wearing an older second hand AT though, because the price was like a third/quarter of this.

[–] docfluty@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I loved that DJ.. I tried on this exact version 3 times. I really want it and that shade of green would fill a big hole in my collection. But I just don't know if I want that cyclops... it seems like the ultimate "look at me" watch. I mean, it is beautiful and that green is awesome. But I know people will ask about it and I actually would hate to be like "oh it's a Rolex"... that just isn't me.

I do like the Omega as well... but I already have three omegas and an itching to get a ck859... so I'm trying my best to not just have a box full of omegas also.

But if I didn't have any omegas and was just deciding on these two as daily wears I would pick the omega. I like the lugs better, no cyclops and more interesting indices and hands.

[–] ElTalento@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

AT is more beautiful and has a more interesting mechanism. The Rolex has a better bracelet. But the comparison is flawed because you can get the AT for 6k.

[–] jabs09@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Imo Omega AT, nice value proposition

[–] ThisIsREM@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As others have said, the Omega bracelet feels substantially below the Rolex one in terms of quality. It felt like a rattly fake president bracelet to me when i tried it... Therefore between the two I do think that the DJ is the better option.

[–] wezel0823@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Really? I tried on a few Rolexes and the bracelets always felt off and really cheap to me. Omega bracelets actually felt more substantial.

I was trying wedding watches on and tried a few Rolex’s and Omega’s before I pulled the trigger.

[–] SegheCoiPiedi1777@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I generally love Omegas, but this is probably one of those instances where I have to recognize Rolex with the Datejust is just superior. Truly one of their most iconic watches and just beautifully versatile.

Also, buying an Aqua Terra at retail prices is insane - as others have mentioned, you can save 30/50% in the secondary market for something like new or lightly used.

[–] Doberman_bark@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Datejust but with fluted bezel

[–] TSMC_YT@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I just severely dislike the Aqua terra and I don't know why

Have you held both? The rolex is much nicer in person. I have held both and the aqua terra is just a bit well not as nice in my opinion.

[–] fluidfloyd2001@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

No contest. Rolex by a mile.

[–] gamingchicken@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

From these two specifically I would choose the sea master. But if that DJ had a fluted bezel it would be much more difficult…

[–] manuvns@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Tissot gentleman

[–] i_am_full_of_eels@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’ve never been a fan of Omega divers (Submariner 4 lyfe) but AT is a fantastic watch. Beautiful case and the dial (I personally love symmetry created by the date window at 6 o’clock). The only thing I dislike about it is the bracelet. It has extremely shiny polishing and because the links in the middle are wide, it feels too bling bling to me compared to the jubilee.

I don’t think you can go wrong with either. Both watches are great.

[–] Majestic_Puppo@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

7300 for an aqua terra? Holy price increases batman

[–] counterhit121@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Datejust. Bc bracelet and hue of green. Would have been a tougher matchup if the AT had the teak-textured dial.

[–] karleoneSub16610@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Rolex DJ all day. I don’t like the indices, date wheel and positon, hands on the AT

[–] far_beyond_driven_@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

This is a difficult one. Probably the OP, but I know it wouldn't matter which I got, I would regret not getting the other.

[–] bukithd@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

The aqua Terra is the only omega model I like so that'd be my choice.

[–] GaMurphy@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Something about that Omega stands out and its a great watch!

[–] TheWillyBandit@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

I’d take the Aqua Terra over the Datejust, but the bracelet and clasp is worse, and not even a style thing, I think it’s genuinely a notable step down from the Rolex.

The AT is also overpriced at retail.

I’d take a Rolex Explorer over both of these choices.

I’m still actively saving for the AT though, lol.

[–] avatarkeenan@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

omega, the indices look more dynamic

[–] No_Personality6685@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

AT looks way more elegant imo

[–] Hardi_SMH@alien.top 1 points 1 year ago

Usally I‘m always for Rolex, but in this case, Omega, no hesitation
