r/ChineseWatches

EASILY the best value for money you can get with any watch. Baltany, San Martin, Watchdives, Sugess, all great.

Go with what you like, getting opinions out of other people about what you should like is pointless. Watches is probably the most subjective hobby out there.

AT looks way more elegant imo

Idk, the bezels make it wear smaller than it really is

You don’t and you’re right. However, if you get into this hobby there’s a good chance you will find a watch in the $$$ that you really like then it becomes your grail then you end up chasing it.

Oh boy if you think this is expensive you should NOT get into this hobby 😂

Casio is consistently ranked S tier in terms of watch brands by other watch collectors

I thought this was the other watch sub at first

A Casio f91w because it can seamlessly switch between 12/24h and it gives day date and everything. You can’t miss your flight nor get confused with one.

Look into what they’re doing recently. Some of the most beautiful dials that rival if not better Grand Seikos - the washi dial and lacquer dial, and they don’t try and hide their Citizen name. They show it proudly. For me I’ve recently associated Citizen with beautiful dials. Their instagram and posts on here help with the image.

Recently I looked at GS and loved them and was recommended a bunch of Citizens to peruse as a lower price point since I can't financially afford a GS.

Seiko has a lot more choices, but it's quite perplexing how almost all their watches are Hardlex unless you're willing to spend over $700

Citizen doesn't have the wacky crazy dials of Seiko but their designs are very much classic.

Some of the more popular recent Citizen's that are really good value:

  • Tsuyosa - PRX niche, ~$325 with sapphire crystal
  • NB 1050 - basically what the SARB was but even better finished.
  • NB 1060 - a polished dial monster to compete with the likes of Grand Seiko, for only $640

Their dials are just so... bland. It's always black and white and minimalist to a fault. Like there's nothing interesting. Even Nomos has splashes of color here and there and play on typography. For example Nomo's simplest watch - Tangente, has a slight splash of color with blue hands. Other minimal dress watches usually differentiate with dial finishing - like with sunburst or a textured dial. But nope, Sinn design language is just: stainless steel, pure black, sans-serif numbers, and white indices. That's it. Yet they are super loved in here. Help me understand?
