All of them will be a good pick. I think there is no right or wrong answer here!

But if you ask me, personally I would pick the Aikon (At a resale price around 1500+-)

The pros

  • It has an SW automatic movement a well known mechanical movement. Not necessarily a good nor a bad movement but I would pick a mechanical “swiss made” movement over a Japanese quartz or mechanical (As a “first” luxury watch I lean towards swiss watch, nothing wrong with the Japanese movement tho) -the design are very eye catching and I think It looks great with rubber strap, leather strap, and a bracelet. As a first which I would assume you won’t buy a second anytime soon, having a watch that look good with any strap is a plus (totally subjective tho)

The cons -some watches enthusiasts or anyone who knows about watches on a surface level will mistake the Aikon for an AP, which can be annoying at times -Maurice Lacroix. The brand doesn’t have as much heritage as the other 3 -the sticker prices are too high!

The grand seiko all day long. Yes, it’s quartz, but it’s the Grand Seiko specific 9F quartz movement that is super accurate and the finishing and dial will make you never even question what’s in side. They wear really well on wrist also, more versatile than the other options here!

Just from looks I prefer the king seiko.

I'm picking the Tag. I've never seen anything like it especially for the price

I have a GS, SBGW267.

THAT king Seiko is very very near in finishing to the GS plus that beautiful bracelet which entire GS line doesn't have and it's automatic. Go for it.

They released new ones.

I own the king Seiko glycine, and i can only praise It, while it does not have an outstanding movement, the details are absolutely stunning, so i would reccommend It.

Speaking about Grand Seiko, i am also looking for One, but i am going not ti buy a quarz i think, while the GS quarz Is Amazing, i think i would feel slightly unhappy and i think that it is worth to spend an extra 1k for an automatic

Completely different opinion, but I would 100% go with the Maurice Lacroix Aikon. Solid movement, felt incredibly comfortable on my wrist when I tried it on, and it's the only watch here I would be happy to use in any situation, indoor/outdoor/underwater/near animals and children

Even better if you can find grey market for cheaper than $2K
