For the most part the all star game is a popularity contest. All-Tournament Team is performance based which makes more sense to be a contract incentive.

Disgusting. Stop forcing this awful tournament that nobody likes on us

I’m fine with the idea of adding incentives for All Tourney Team but I will say this about All Star Team selections; It’s good to have popular players on your team and still totally makes sense to have it as an incentive. Being a popular player is a valuable metric for a franchise that adds value.

The all-star game is not for the most part a popularity contest. Fans only decide the starters and even then they only have half of the vote. The majority of the team is picked by coaches.

Hell no. All-Star game is voted on by coaches, not really a popularity contest beyond the starters (who are generally all-star worthy anyways)
