Honestly, for me, I bought one piece of audio gear but tried a BUNCH!
The only thing I kept was the RME Babyface Pro, the only audio interface that has served both my needs as a great headphone DAC/AMP and a device that properly and cleanly powers any mic I plug into it without needing signal boost.
But on the actual headphone side of things, I tried the Sony IER M7 and M9, I tried the Beyerdynamic DT 1770 and DT 700, I tried Kiwi Ears Quartet and Orchestra, I tried Austrian Audio Hi-X60, and last but not least, I tried Final Audio E5000.
I think this year has been the closest I’ve ever come to breaking out of my addiction, because out of all the things I tried, I kept nothing, and I also got rid of some gear, like all of my dacs and Amps, some previous audio interfaces, my DT 1990s, my Anandas, and my DT 770s, Final Audio E4000, and pretty much my entire collection.
Sadly it was mostly out of necessity but tis the way the world works and I’ve still got too much to ever complain about. The only thing I kind of regret letting go of was the DT 1990s. Out of my entire collection, those and the HD660s were my favs.
